An age-old question: ways to 60m.

Yeah and? There are people here prattling on like it never happened "Hal Watts trained and Bret Gilliam (supposedly) did blah blah blah" There is a very good reason that 60m dives on air went out of fashion 30+ years ago and the Rouse's joint passing in 1992 was a big part of that. The OP can...

An age-old question: ways to 60m.

What are you rambling about? They were not in "poor condition" they choose air for cost reasons. They were as "qualified" for air at 65m as anyone debating the issue now decades later. Their dive went pear shaped, the combination of narcosis, gas density, CO2, and the overhead all overwhelmed...

    What would you do? AITA?

Some of us fully accept that refunds are provided when the weather, boat, staffing or otherwise prevent the "boat leaving the dock". Once the boat leaves the dock then your fees are sunk. So it never even occurs to me to ask for a refund. But this is also contingent on skippers not taking...

An age-old question: ways to 60m.

Yeah the Rouse's would like a word about deep air being "safe"

    What would you do? AITA?

Be grateful they didn't require CPR or die. And that you didn't spend the afternoon being interviewed by the police about a fatality. And eat the cost of the charter. Also stop going on big group charters with strangers. If the diver in distress was a good friend of yours, you'd be more...

    Checklists in Rebreather Diving

400ish hours and I still refer to the checklists for my units. Although I don't actually mark the paper.

    Carry on with your Rebreather

I've carried on both a Meg and a sidewinder. Never had an issue even in Cancun. They are way more concerned about lithium batteries and lights 99% of the time

Question Rebreather Full Cave Diver crossover

It has some serious depth limitations amongst multiple other concerns. You can do better things with your money many of which are well described in other threads here

How long does a steel tank usually retain its + rating in hydro?

Yeah that doesn't fly around here at all. Nor emails "from Faber"

Deco dive with divers on different back gas

Ocram's razor. Or dive mix to 1.4 I really don't care. I won't and there's a couple decades of practices from early mix adopters which back up the practice

Rebreather NSS/CDS report from death at Peacock earlier this year.

Yes you can potentially go through A LOT of gas with a CO2 hit

    Egypt in August: bad idea?

Ones that don't catch fire or sink. So basically nothing in Egypt

Deco dive with divers on different back gas

Except when it isn't... This woman never exceeded 1.4 and clearly toxed at 145ft on 24/25. https://iucrr.org/more/accident-analysis/incident-reports/incident-list/2007-07-14-incident/ There is a very good reason many folks dive with 1.2 on the bottom or even less.

Rebreather NSS/CDS report from death at Peacock earlier this year.

I don't know it's not mentioned nor would it necessarily 100% prevent this misassembly error. Not really, CO2 is insidious and is often insensible until you're in a runaway respiration scenario

How important is panel valve directionality?

The sherwood valves work fine. I would suggest installing them so the gas flow direction is out when the bank is draining. So the gas is pressurizing the HP seat correctly when the valve is closed and the bank bottle is in "storage" mode which is the vast majority of the time. And reversed...

Deco dive with divers on different back gas

People have definitely toxed at 150ft on 25/25. Not something I'd make a habit of

Deco dive with divers on different back gas

Shrugs so what? The EAN32 diver isn't even on a deco dive at all with 30mins at 100ft. And if you tweak the GFs enough the air diver can get away with 30mins and a stop which basically mirrors a safety stop. Or they could just admit that this isn't a great idea even if it could work and do a 20...

    Light monkey light's

They are low value as HIDs. But you will also not recoup the cost of converting them to LED with new batteries either. Just sell them as is. Although you may want to save one as a suit heater canister - if you ever travel to the Great Lakes for instance
