The Grand Traverse in Peacock Springs.

I always find it funny when people receive cert cards and are not clear the limits of their training. Even worse when it comes from a dive instructor and professional. I'm not saying that I've never pushed the limits, but rather if I did, I was at least cognizant of it... :dontknow:

How long do you wait to shore dive after a rainfall?

Quintin is also the one who's been sick for the past month. I'm sure that this is going to do wonders for him. LOL.

    Best diving in USA poll

My first 20 dives out of OW were in Florida outside of Pompano Beach. I thought it was absolutely amazing the number of wrecks and reefs you could so easily hit within a 20 minute boat ride. Conditions and viz was awesome. I've been very much trying to find a way to get back to Florida and...

No gas -- what do you do?

I've had a deco reg fail on me once and my primary reg fail on me once. Both times I went to my backup, fixed the problem, and then resumed using the fixed reg.

    Best diving in USA poll

Oops. Didn't read it as North Carolina. My bad.

    Best diving in USA poll

I'd include the northeast U.S. for wreck diving as a choice. Also, why do you have California and North California as two different choices? Did you mean to make it Southern California as a choice?

    Certification Agency

I would go to your local regional section on scubaboard and ask people or search the threads for recommendations on scuba instructors local to you. Then, go ahead and give the instructors a call or visit them and talk to them to get your personal vibe about them. The instructor certainly...

Upon reading the thread title, did anyone else think that this was going to be about doing the Warhammer maneuver in a Liquid Fit wetsuit?...

No gas -- what do you do?

I can think of some possible scenarios where primary reg is unbreatheable but backup reg is working. Of of the top of my head: 1) malfunction in primary 2nd stage 2) kink in hose off right post leading to primary 2nd stage 3) malfunction in primary 1st stage on right post 4) right post...

No gas -- what do you do?

Depends upon the scenario for me. If I am going OOG and know from looking at my SPG that I am about to empty my tanks, I would signal my buddy and share gas. However, if it occurred out of the blue, I would at least try my backup reg once I found my primary reg breathing hard. Takes...

Atomic B2 or Scuba Pro Mk25/600??

I personally have the MK25/S600 and have been happy with them. I don't think that you can really go wrong either way. Both companies make great regulators.

How long do you wait to shore dive after a rainfall?

For clarification, I was taught by my dive instructors and local surfers to avoid the water after heavy rainfall primarily for health reasons. I used to live with a surf instructor, and she used to tell me stories about how the surfers would all get sick around the same time being in the water...

How long do you wait to shore dive after a rainfall?

That's pretty much what I do as well.

    Console vs Wrist?

I don't think I even know a technical diver who uses a console for their dives. :dontknow: I've gone with a wrist mounted one from the beginning and am glad that I did.

    Grand Cayman

+1 for Ocean Frontiers. They were also able to blend whatever gas mixes we needed.

Much difference between an AL 40 deco bottle & a AL80 stage?

I think it's like anything else in scuba. In the beginning, you notice a difference, but after a little while it's really no big deal. Have fun!

    Stowing stage bottle regulator

We were also taught to restow the deco regs rather clipping off for gas breaks. Aside from being how we were taught, it also just seems to me to be better practice. Not like you have anything better to do for 6 minutes or however long you make your gas breaks. Also, stowing under one band...
