Are there people who just CANNOT dive?

99%of all instructors teach neutral buoyant? I think it's more like 99% teach on the knees. Maybe it's different in your region, but all classes I see here are full on knees, or start on knees and go neutral buoyant during the course

Should I get slightly lower quality octo than my primary?

Octo should be equal, or better quality then primary. If you primary fails and you octo is of lower quality, then it will fail soon aswell.. 800 is very expensive ofc.. I am not familiar with that brand, others might have a suggestion

    difficulty hearing things underwater?

No alarms for me, got visual reminder alarms like po2 and ndl. But not really needed, just to highlight something, when I might be narced a bit. With a 7mm I can hear bubbles if near. With 9 or 11 mm it's silence, barely can hear my own bubbles. It's not a problem. Boats are quit load...

    Sea Turtle ID

Definitely not a green and I think its not a loggerhead. Might be a very old hawksbill. Where did u take the photo?

Dive computer - pull out battery between dive outings?

If you use alkaline batteries, like in a shearwater perdix, I would remove them. They can start to leak and destroy the device. But most computers should be fine

    Greetings from Germany

Cold water diving in Germany can be very challenging, but rewarding! I love it :) If you got any questions feel free to ask.

    DIR- Generic Drysuit Balanced Rig

29 lb is a lot of weigth. The drysuit is not a buoyancy device. But it provides the same buoyancy at every depth. So the wing don't have to compensate for compressed Neopren. (talking about trilaminate drysuit) So the wing only has to compensate for the air used and the missing buoyancy of the...

a person with blue eyes and tropical diving

Wait.. Blue eyes makes more sensitive to sunlight? I mean.. It makes sense, but I have never heard that before. I have very blue eyes and I am also very light sensitive. I only wear dark silicon mask and I am thinking about getting a uv filter mask like the Apex one for my next dive holiday.

    Folded Knees

Same happened to me.. An old Instructor told be my feet were to light and would stick up. He also recommended ankle weigths... Ofc there is no right and wrong. Some techniques are clearly better, but not every diver needs to know them.

    Folded Knees

True, but divers normally don't want to move fast. We want to have control. And be able to stop anytime and be still in (whatever type of) trim and buoyancy. bending the legs makes this possible. It's relaxing and gives huge control about the positioning. But it takes some dives to get used to it.

Jeah it's not much of a different. It's only in your head. If you remember that you can always end the dive at any time it will make you more relaxed. Don't pressure yourself

I had the same feeling before my aowd.. It's not really that different. Relax and remember you can always call the dive if you don't feel good. That helped me

    Ditchable weights / balanced rig

Jeah I though that might be a good solution. So I can just drop 1 kg and maybe another pocket with 1 more. I don't like any pockets or belts that can drop by accident..

    Ditchable weights / balanced rig

Jeah, maybe a little pocket, like used for trim weigths.

    Ditchable weights / balanced rig

I agree 100% I dive dry with non ditch able weigths.. But now I wonder what to do, when diving wetsuits. There is no way to swim up the buoyancy of a compressed 5 mm or worse 7mm suit. So on holiday diving wet, I want to have some weigths ditchable.. Is there any good way of doing this? I...

    100th Dive "Tradition"

Dive 100 was my first dive to 40m. And part of the deep dive training. Wasn planned, but I like, that it was kinda a special dive. I said I was going to dive naked, but quickly realized it was a stupid idea.. Because the water temp was 4 degree. Maybe on dive 1000, I will inform you!

Alligator attack - Myakka River, Florida

Crazy story. “Because of the bite force on those animals, he could have got me anywhere else and I would have died.” He got bitten in the head, cracking his scull. Where would be more deadly? :o He was lucky the alligator wasn't there to kill, just to scare him of. I don't understand people...

Are regulators specifically tuned for Trimix?

That's interesting. So the problem occurs when the new gas is saturating faster, then the old gas diffusing. Right? So this would be a problem, if diving on air and decompressing with helium(which makes no sense ofc). But when does this happen in real life Szenario? Switching from helium to air...

THE "PERFECT ( being horizontal ) TRIM" HOAX

True. If I am teaching, this could mean to have a more vertical position to help students, but diving for fun is almost always horizontal. If I dive in ocean, or lake wall dive it's fine to get a bit loose on the trim. As long as I don't touch anything, or the water I move with my fins. I am...

Are regulators specifically tuned for Trimix?

Thanks! Jeah makes sense. Missed stops or to fast ascent rates are worse on helium
