    Fisheye FIX for the S90

Yes, the washer is the issue. Yes, it could be sanded down. If you do sand it down, plan on leaving it mounted on the camera. The washer spins freely when not attached to the camera. This means that you will need to pay attention to its alignment each time you put it on the housing. As for...

    Fisheye FIX for the S90

When you breakdown and get the ULCS setup, you can get the neck ball adapter. It's $30 and does not move when you loosen the ball joint to move your arms. My earlier photos of my rig show it in place.

    Fisheye FIX for the S90

Here are two pictures. One showing the elevation of the shoe adapter (almost enough to get your finger under, but not quite.) The other is a downward shot to see how it partially covers the buttons. The buttons are not completely blocked and they can be pushed with bare hands underwater. I...

    Fisheye FIX for the S90

CompuDude, When considering a focus light, I recommend finding one that attaches to your arms and not the shoe atop the FIX housing. I had my focus light mounted on the shoe on my trip a week ago and fought with it the whole time. The ULCS hot shoe adapter partially covers the power and ring...

    Fisheye FIX for the S90

What I really wanted was a micro fourthirds camera, but I did not like the current collection of them. Someday someone will make on that will work well underwater. sigh. @boyd The lip was not the issue. If you look at my pictures, you will see I have the lip of the tray pointing away from...

    Fisheye FIX for the S90

The extension was never an issue. Instead, I was pleased to note that the housing's bottom corner is cut in under the door lock to the right height for the ULCS extension. No, the issue was that the bottom edge of the housing's door would scrape across the main part of the tray when it...

    Fisheye FIX for the S90

Not exactly my issue. I have the ULCS digital tray as well. I flipped it over so the lip is turned away from the camera. The issue I had was that the door to the housing would scrape against the tray when it was opened. Problem solved. I took a piece of overhead projector transparency and...

    Fisheye FIX for the S90

There are two mounting holes on the bottom of the housing.

    Fisheye FIX for the S90

More observations of the FIX housing . . . The lip (step up) from the bottom of the housing to the area where the housing lock/latch is located exactly matches the thickness of the step on the Ultralight Control Systems second arm. This is very nice and convenient. Unfortunately, the back...

    Strobes for S90 or G11

I went with putting a pair of YS110a's on my S90 with the Fisheye FIX housing. I am very pleased with the results. The strobes are set up as TTL using optical fibers.

    Fisheye FIX for the S90

Okay... Help me out. I don't have sufficient experience with wet lenses, so. . . Assuming I want a bayonet mount (I suck at threading screws in dry gloves.), should I go with the UWL-100 28AD? Then there is macro. This camera's macro is not very close up. Is there a good bayonet mount...

Tight budget, but still want an UW camera!!!

Something to keep in mind about the S90 and macro work. The closest it focuses is about two inches away. The smallest image it can photograph is about 2.5 inches.

    S90 Housing, Strobe Recommendations

I am liking this housing more and more. Backscatter just sent me the flash cover. It goes on nicely and completely covers the flash window with the exception of the hole left for the fiber optic adapter. It mounts flush to the lens port and does not wiggle about. There is enough of a lip...

    Fisheye FIX for the S90

There is very little room in this housing. The only area is to the right of the camera and I wouldn't expect to get anything significant in that area either. Perhaps a piece of paper with your name and address on it.

    S90 Housing, Strobe Recommendations

After much debate and consideration, I went for the Fisheye FIX and I am not regretting it one penny. It was even worth the abuse I got from my wife about the expense of it (and the jewelry I will have to compensate her for it.) The camera fits it like a hand in a glove. The controls are...

    Fisheye FIX for the S90

I took a look at my notes. That picture was done with mostly natural lighting. The internal flash fired, but is mostly obscured. The external lights were still set up for wide angle and therefore overshot the image.

    Fisheye FIX for the S90

That was underwater shot number six. I was still working out strobes. It may be that the strobes were too wide on that one. Also, the front plastic ring to cover the adapter location falls off very easily. If anyone is diving the flats south of Jupiter, FL please look for mine. :)

The downside of the Olympus strobe, beyond being weak, is it has a narrow angle of light distribution. I used two of them much more effectively.
