I have the SS bp. I like it. About 6 lbs heavy.
Cons: The bp is a little wide compared to typical backplate so on a crammed boat it's a little tight but still manageable. The kidney dump valve string is very long, you need to shorten it. The wing is a bit big 40#. I'm always scared of sitting...
Since vip is per year and cost me about 15 bucks a tank now. I'm going to have 2x available for me and another 2x for my gf. Then an extra back up. That's 5x. If I ever need to bring a stage, its already filled so I dont need to worry about the al80 until after the fact.
I would just choose...
Although the #1 rule of diving is to be cool. Don't worry about what other people think. They probably dive worst then you when you were taking your OW class.
As long as it allows you to dive safely, you are fine. If you don't dive the normal recreational setup, I recommend you give all your...
Because you said you may venture into tech and you do dive solo sometimes. I believe that's your biggest consideration... You should get a computer that has the same algorithm and that allows you to change GF. Basically a shearwater teric or perdix. I'd just watch for a good 2nd hand deal.

I have a S600, rarely used since it's typically a stage. 2 Years old, 20-30 dives. Never been serviced. Last used in January.
I also have the 1st stage MK25 EVO. Same stats. Willing to sell both or 1st stage only. In the Los Angeles Area. MSG me if your interested
@Raphus i agree. It's ironic. We have done so much that rapidly changes the ecosystem and destroy them. Yet now, it's almost a requirement for us to intervene and play god to maintain/grow these ecosystems. Hopefully we will succeed and not make it worst.
Sighing up!
I used to love divers ready. But everytime he talks about anything that's not typical tech equipment, he seems to be incredibly off for me. As if a couple dives will make him an expert on it... I feel like he suffers from typical old man tech diver, this is DIR/Tech and how everyone should do...
Our gas won't be an issue. Our NDL and cold will be the limiting factor. Hopefully we'll be back in our drysuits soon.
That's good to know. Learned something new today, I tend to be paranoid or overthink things when I don't know enough.
Lol thanks. I agree that's great advice, we already use...
YES we were going to catch scallops for the first time too! My gf has a flat tip titanium knife but I'll probably go to PW to pick up the knife your talking about. My bouyancy is good, task load no problems. My gf, well we will find out. I'm probably going to have to hold onto her catch bag...
@lexvil My first time to the oil rigs! I'm going to stick with my original plans. TY ur posts were exactly the info I needed.
@Rose Robinson thanks for the concern. I'll be bringing the HP120 and HP100. We will be fine. No down currents and there is the oil rig structure.
@lexvil @StefinSB that's reassuring. I'll just bring my tanks than.
It's a 3 tank dive actually. Yeah, I agree LP72s are too small especially since the dive site is bottomless.
Yea, I understand they can only provide up to 3000 PSI. That's why we are bringing 120 + 100 instead of our typical 100 + 80. Or are you saying I probably will get fills clloser to 2500?
