I've dove both in 85 F water. Warm water rash gaurd only. I used the Tec in my technical dives. ~20 dives. I used the classic on ~30 recreational dives.
My opinion, the classic is great if you are traveling and don't need more lift. Otherwise the tec is better: bigger wing and feels more...
No, that's why I said in real life it doesn't matter. I do not think any could "feel" the WOB difference. However, I bet a highly tuned machine may be able to in a high flow condition.
If you use the 5th port, most likely its going down.. or atleast near horizontal. The 5th port, theoretically is the best breathing port as well... although in real life it probably doesn't matter.
The only time I think the 5th port up is useful is... I had to used it 5th port up for one...
Having an AL80 on both sides + a deco bottle isn't something you'll notice. People can single tank sidemount which will feel more "unbalance"... but if you are properly trained and spent some time in the pool, you won't notice the imbalance.
In a 2 AL80 + 1 AL40 SM config, you get a benefit of...
That's a good point.
The real life check is a trim check. Get neutral and chill. Legs together and arms together going straight out away from your body.
You should have zero rotation in the axis of your shoulders. You may have a slow tilt either arms down or legs down. Shifting your weight...
+1 for cleaning up hoses at end of dive. Sidemount divers begin stowing our long hoses during the end of our SS. Works great if your passing up a cylinder.
Per my understanding of using accelerometer data...
You can "guestimate" position/direction/path with accelerometer but it won't be very accurate. Otherwise, we wouldn't need GPS at all for location tracking. It would be helpful for heading and direction for long segments.
That's good. For cold water (7mm+ or Drysuit), AL80 are the main culprits for smaller volume divers or divers with lots of exposure. They just aren't very "sinky" at the start of a dive on the surface and you have to add extra weight to compensate for them being positive at the end of your dive...
What tank your using? What's your exposure protection? Drysuit type and undergarments?
It is common for new cold water divers to struggle with getting down from the surface. You may need to swim down the first 10-15ft. Are you sure you are dumping all the air from the bcd and drysuit?
When I buy used gear, especially old... I look only at price of metal objects. Tanks, weights, BP. Everything else assume you'll have to trash.
Steel 80s n 90. Low pressure? Yoke or yoke/din? Plus rating valid during last hydro? If they have air inside 90% of the time steel will pass hydro...
I keep it in the hose keeper. Basically a rubber D ring and it stays where I want it the whole time.
I probably will change it out in the next few months. I doubt it's glued, zip ties are, more than sufficient.
If you get one lmk. I'll give you some tips on it. Very happy got it for cold water
I've heard of a group fishing at vets for sharks. I've seen pics posted of a shark parts that were cut and laying on the sand. Discovered by divers. These ppl are ****
