Question Stuck and running out of time - scuba diving 6 hours from the UK

Although it’s a bit more than 6hr, you shouldn’t discount Thailand. I paid £650 to get to Dubai earlier this year, for an extra £200 I could have got to Bangkok. Once in Thailand, internal travel is cheap. Red Sea liveaboards, there have been too meany fires/sinkings for me to even consider a...

    Fill rate slowing down

I did experience this, but it turned out to be the gauge needle sticking as when it got to 260 bar it would jump up; I changed the gauge that fixed it.

    Switching from PADI to SSI

Disclosure: I’m the former BSAC Chair. We setup a licensee BSAC Egypt, as a consequence PADI issued a mandate that no PADI operation could jointly sell another agency’s courses. Although initially in Egypt the policy is being zemblanitly enforced in other areas. However, we have shops selling...

I’ve flown through Dubai many times with Emirates, I’ve never had my carry on weighed. But then I check my regs in on all trips.

Error Local diver critical - Cirkewwa harbor, Malta

What we don’t know is whether there was a distraction during his pre-dive routine. I’ve entered the water without fins when distracted. Now if distracted I’d like to think I would start the routine over, but we’re all fallible.

Error Local diver critical - Cirkewwa harbor, Malta

Do you know the lift capability of your buoyancy device, mine is 25kg, but some travel ones are as low as 8kg (leave a litre of water in one and you’ve lost a kg.)

Recommendations on dive centers in Muscat or nearby for September

Northern Oman, Musandan Discovery Diving, it's there dive season. I was there in February when the wind limited diving. They can organise getting from Dubai airport and return if you want, plus hotel. Flighing into Muscate add 1,000km to the journy.

That’s pretty much the old A to G tests BSAC ran until the 1980s.

    Blackbird Caye 9/13 - 9/20/ 2025 Anyone else going?

The operator has to get Annex E completed from Belize’s “STANDARDS (BELIZE STANDARD: CODE OF PRACTICE FOR RECREATIONAL SCUBA DIVING SERVICES) (DECLARATION OF COMPULSORY STANDARD) ORDER, 2016”. So no AOW is not a legal requirement, but it helps.

Error Local diver critical - Cirkewwa harbor, Malta

There is more difference in recovering a body than a dead-weight twinset. A body is slightly negative, unless the lungs are full of water, twin steel 12s will have a negative mass of about 11kg when full.

Error Local diver critical - Cirkewwa harbor, Malta

Normally in Europe it’s twin steels, chances are [hear I’m speculating] no ditch-able weights, makes it extremely difficult to gain positive buoyancy. Mods, remove if I’m out of order.

Horrible Experience In Confined Water Training

Lifesaving skills do not often get mastered on the first attempt. You didn’t fail, you instructor failed to teach you properly. As for equipment, the pool kit is an indication what they would provide for open water lessons.
