for me, this is definitely an "It depends" I've swapped out stage regs for an entire new reg plenty of times, sometimes while in the water, just hand up the bottle and someone will switch it out. I've also forgotten a reg and borrowed one at the last minute. Saw a guy on a boat turn on a deco...

    dive to 300 ft

Yeah, I have descended in reasonable conditions on 12/65 a few times with no ill effects (although it was annoying getting slammed in the face with surface chop on one dive as we tried to fix a reg leak) for 10/70 I would almost certainly just breathe the 190 bottle on descent, not just to...

    dive to 300 ft

Interesting to see you guys skipping the 120 bottle. Something we've been considering here as well, as the min gas just starts to get insane with only a 120 bottle, but if you bring the 120 as well, it just seems to get into bottle hell.

True, but if a regulator failing only happened as often as I won the lotto (given that I might have 6 or 7 in use for a single dive) I would stop spending on diving and buy a LOT of lotto tickets right now! I have seen plenty of regs/hoses fail at the surface and get moved between bottles or...

Until a reg fails on the surface and you move it to another tank .... I would honestly stick to the usual method of 3" MOD stickers on deco (or stage) bottles, and if a buddy has any issue with Back Gas, they are going on my long hose and we are getting the heck out of there. I am not hanging...

Displaying u/w photos in your home?

I also got a really nice Aluminum print from ImageWizards. It looks expensive, BUT you dont always need a frame with them. Once you add a nice 24x36 frame to a regular print, the cost is very similar

Displaying u/w photos in your home?

MPIX does a good job, but make sure to calibrate your monitor first to get the best colors (if you do that, make sure to select "dont color correct" on the MPIX order)

I like duct tape because then if your buddy's wrist seal starts to fray on the boat, it can serve a dual-purpose :) Doesn't really leave too much residue. Also use blue painters tape which works fine. Really glad my duct tape was visible last year when I went to the 70 foot deco stop and looked...

    Best motion/seasick meds for divers...

To be clear though, I take it in pill form: 1 the night before a trip and 1 the day of. Works virtually every time. I tried the patch and it kept coming off, especially with drysuit neck seals ...

    Best motion/seasick meds for divers...

Indeed. For me, Scopalamine is a life-saver despite the side effects. Nothing else seems to work (Not even Kevin Rumbo's jedi mind-over-matter tricks)

    Inland Empire Instructor\school recommendation?

Seconded for Sharky's. I have not taken a class there but I have dived with them recreationally and on deeper stuff. But I do agree with fnalfman on those specialties --- I am not sure how much benefit you will see from them. I would incorporate a night dive into the AOW, as well as buoyancy...

Diver dead on the Andrea Doria

Mike was an awesome and responsible diver. You can bet whether the "mix" cost $12 or $200, he would have been using it. You can also be assured his bailout gas cost *way* more than $12, and that was just the gas he was hoping he'd never have to use.

Yes Bill, a simply terrible thing. I just cannot believe this has happened.

How Do YOU Use Your Deco Planning Software?

150 feet actually, which doesn't sound so ridiculous at all. I usually round it off to 140 to go a little shallower.

    No Fly Times

This is not advice to you, but I usually like to get around 6 hours time before flying, which realistically isn't that hard by the time you add in packing gear, driving to the airport, security etc etc. I've done it multiple times, including after 2 days diving to 150 and then 80-100 foot as a...
