Blurry vision underwater is due to pupil dilation, which can be controlled to see as if wearing mask

Go ahead and read a few eye anatomy books, including some with pictures. In order to get reasonably good vision, the light must be focused on the fovea, which is in the center of the macula, which is in the center of the retina. This entire structure only comprises a few degrees of central...

Blurry vision underwater is due to pupil dilation, which can be controlled to see as if wearing mask

Ok that's definitely a new one. "UV" adjustable coating. That one needs explaining, unless of course you mean photochromatic lenses that lighten and darken with exposure to varying levels of UV radiation. Some people stand by the notion that the earth is flat. Your point? LASIK vision...

Blurry vision underwater is due to pupil dilation, which can be controlled to see as if wearing mask

The video is completely bogus for a number of reasons. The human iris cannot be trained to control miosis. Even if it could the pinhole effect will not do anything for the blur due to the water/cornea interface, if anything it will further detract from the vision because of the loss of light...

    Biggest thing killing dive shops?

18 pages to answer a simple question, including ridiculous comments such as "the medical waivers are a hassle" and "fit people don't want to be bossed around by dive shops". Where do people come up with this nonsense? Most of the answers were in the very first post. Local dive shops are...

Key Largo: Found - Dive Computer

I lost a dive computer on the Duane wreck back in September. Not clear why you are certain it was lost on that particular day based on it the data you posted, because it could possibly recycle the data after a period of time. Anyway I'll post some info on my lost dive computer just on the very...

Nitrox training worth it w/o a computer

That sounds high. You can do the PADI online course and then get the check out "quiz and tank analysis" at your local dive shop (that you select when you sign up for it) for considerably less, I think it's about $150.

    Pony bottle, TSA and Delta

I had considered editing my post to include that part. Right, never use any sort of tool to tighten a pony valve, at most I might give it a firm tap with my open palm.

Nitrox training worth it w/o a computer

You can get a good solid used Nitrox computer on Ebay for $70-80 if you keep your eyes open and catch a great deal. Even if you didn't want to wait for a great deal you can get one immediately for under $125. At a rental rate of $10-15 per day you'll pay it off after less than 10 dives, plus...

    Pony bottle, TSA and Delta

Installing a valve on a pony tank that has tape over the opening is a complicated multi-step process that must be followed in a particular order or there will be major problems. Here's the step by step procedure that must be followed after you arrive at your destination. Feel free to print it...

For Sale *SOLD* $82 Basic Dive Computer

I wouldn't say it's a steal. Here's a link to a recent Ebay listing for a Veo 200, which is Nitrox capable, has upload to digital dive log, and it's 2 button which is much easier to program than the 1 button model. It sold for $70 + $4.95 shipping Oceanic Veo 200 Dive Computer Used | eBay

Soft contacts vs. hard contacts for diving

You're playing roulette with your eyeballs to save a few bucks per year. Just because you haven't yet suffered from a major eye infection from the severe noncompliance doesn't mean it won't happen. Over time the resistance of the cornea to infection gradually erodes as the dirty lenses don't...

Intermediate diver choosing between 4 BCDs!

I don't dive the LiteHawk, but I'm familiar with it from another diver. I don't believe they have the extra weight pocket kit. My BCD is a Seaquest Balance, it has only one tank strap which is more than enough, just be sure you make it tight and position the tank properly. More than one tank...

Soft contacts vs. hard contacts for diving

The only reason to wear an RGP on top of a soft contact lens is in the relatively rare situation where a person has a serious corneal disorder, primarily keratoconus.

Intermediate diver choosing between 4 BCDs!

If you're looking for votes, mine is for the Scubapro Litehawk. Good solid BCD and it's lightweight with rear inflate and two moveable accessory pockets. You need a place to stow your slate and foldable snorkel! Its only a problem if you're unconscious on the bottom.

    Leisure Pro...

Leisure Pro sells lots of stuff through Ebay. I've purchased tons of dive gear from them, always good prices and fast shipping.

Soft contacts vs. hard contacts for diving

You're confusing a few terms. Going back a bit- the first contact lenses used in the general population were called PMMA, and they did not allow any transmission of oxygen through the lens, for all practical purposes, they were nonpermeable, they had to be fit in such a way that the lens moved...

    All this talk about sharks!

Yes, a human in the water is in fact an immediate and easy food source to an average shark. The shark may not know it, and we want to keep it that way but we're easy prey with no natural defenses.

    Found: Canon camera in Cozumel

That could be my camera! By any chance, did the pictures have people swimming under the water with fins on their feet, a cylindrical tank on their back and mask on their faces? If so please pm me, thanks!
