All I want for Christmas is...

Well, along those lines... how about one of these to get you to your favorite dive sites and back. Moller SkyCar I sure could squeeze in a lot more diving if I could drive straight to the ocean and back at 300mph! Of cousre, with a 750lbs payload capacity, I might have to leave some of...

    My Air 2 style alternate

That's okay. I figured it was something like that. I just hate to see people afraid to offer their opinion for fear of the responses they might get. Similar story here. Though I have been certified for over ten years, I also have limited diving experience. I'd never even heard of DIR until...

    The right reg???????????????

I don't know much about the others, but I have used the ScubaPro MK20/25s, and I doubt you will ever regret the purchase for performance reasons if you pair it with a G250HP, S550, or S600. Of course, you may regret paying so much... but that is a whole different story. ;)

    My Air 2 style alternate

My humble opinion.... Whatever works for you is the best: If ya can't find / don't like the octo or the inflator, but you can find the necklace and like it... the necklace is the best for you. If ya can't find / don't like the octo or the necklace, but you can find the inflator and like...

    My Air 2 style alternate

I don't think the other posters are trying to trash your DIR style long hose and bungee, as you are trashing their Air II style, so much as point out that the original poster's solution of using the standard buddy octopus system may not be any better at preventing similar problems from...

    Scubapro S550 vs S600???

Okay... so basically, what I am getting out of this: 1) I can temporarily detune a highly sensitive 600 if I run into problems with surf / strong current / surface swimming & I can either live with it or have the regulator permanently detuned if it is a 550. 2) The 600 is safer to...

plastic cage thingie on SP MK-25

I have the plastic cage thinggy on the end of my MK2. I had the same question when I first saw it. Is it safe to assume it serves no useful purpose on this model as well?

    Scubapro S550 vs S600???

I have been looking at a MK25/S550 combo for $265 at leisure-pro. I've dove with both the MK25/S550 combo and the MK25/S600. I liked the S550 better, and the LDS tech told me something like the following: The S550 is tuned to its best performance when serviced each year and is not adjustable...

    My Air 2 style alternate

I have a Seaquest Air Source, which is very similar to the Air II. I don't know if this would help or not, but I was told to learn to reach for my alternate/inflator at the shoulder and then run my hand down the hose/unit. That way it could always be easily located by feel alone, no matter...

    Share some info guys...

I always assumed everyone could simply buy the kit from their LDS. Hell, mine will walk me through the entire service step by step if I want, lets me look at the manuals if I ask, and I assume would sell me the kit if I asked. At least, they didn't seem like they would have a problem with it...

    Mini Pony Bottle Pressure Gauges

Hmmmm.... Actually, I hadn't thought of that. So for those of you who dive with pony or stage bottles (I haven't yet), you carry them charged, with the valve off, and check periodically during the dive to be certain the pressure is holding? I assume this is to prevent water intrusion into your...

    Mini Pony Bottle Pressure Gauges

According to the instructor at my LDS, this style of mini pressure gauge is unreliable and prone to breakage/error, though he has not actually used one himself. Does anyone have any experience to confirm or deny this allegation? Typical Gauge Link

    Australian Method IWR Equipment

From a post by DocVikingo, a Medical Regulator in this forum. I have also seen this procedure called the Australian method elsewhere, though I don't remember where. Here is a link: In water recompression w/ DCI

    Australian Method IWR Equipment

First... before everyone jumps in to point out the obvious, let me say it for you. No, I am in no way qualified, experienced, or equipped to attempt in water recompression, decompression diving, or any similar situations. That said, I have seen the debates regarding prophylactic administration...

    Pony mounting questions

Ahh... haven't decided yet. Help is appreciated here. Aqua Explorer Ultimate Pony Bracket I haven't seen that before, but it looks a bit like the Zeagle mounts attached to cam bands/tank straps rather than twin BC tank straps. At least, from the picture. I have also heard this said about...

    Pony mounting questions

Ease in reaching the valve was my primary consideration in favor of mounting the tank with the valve down. Are there any damage, risk, performance issues, or other problems caused by mounting it upside down? For that matter, should it be carried with the valve open or charged and closed...

    Pony mounting questions

I have read many/most of the threads regarding the pros and cons of using a bailout bottle, and have decided to experiment with one anyway :bonk:. The two main carrying options appear to be 1) under the left arm in a sling or 2) on the side of my main tank. I intend to try both mouning options...
