How about this?? Nitrox c-card without a single checkout dive

TDI has never required dives for their nitrox class. I got my nitrox card four years ago without doing a dive. It was about a year later when I actually did my first nitrox dive. Why is this unbelievable?

    Pressed Steel Decision, Help!

I have the E7-80 & 100. I also have an E7-120 on order. When I travel, I'm always renting an AL80, which is the same diameter as the E7 seriaes. So I never have to adjust the tank straps for different sizes. That may be a trivial reason to others, but I don't like making the adjustment from...

    Hit in WA

I'll buy that in theory. Has anyone actually done this in an actual unplanned ascent?

    Hit in WA

How is a dry suit better than a wet suit if you accidently drop your weight belt? A dry suit is more buoyant, so you'll ascend faster.

Who or What Inspired You to Dive?

The Flipper TV show. Although Flipper was actually a freediver, his friends Bud and Sandy were scuba divers. ;)

I have a question for you, Neww. What kind of columns about diving are you writing?

    Favorite Dive Phrase

At 200 ft, no one can hear you scream. Actually, I think that's already on a t-shirt.

    200 Bar or 300Bar Din??

So you have to carry either a donut or fill adapter, anyway. With the donut, you also have to carry the correct size allen wrench. So I prefer to carry the fill adapter. I have both 200-bar and 300-bar valves. I've never had aproblem getting a fill with either one. All my future valves will...

    Lasik

The instruments sort of attach to your face and float with it, so if you move your head a little (or there's an earthquake), it's not a problem. Your head is not strapped down to the table, so there has to be room for movement. I did this three years ago, and it was the best thing I ever did...

    I guess this was inevitable.

I'm all for signing my name and time to indicate I'm back in the boat, but I don't care to document my dive profile for the boat crew in that manner. I don't need a boat crew hassling me because they didn't like what I did. I'm old school enough to believe divers should be responsible for their...

    I guess this was inevitable.

How does writing your maximum depth (instead of just your name) insure you're back on the boat?

    I guess this was inevitable.

This thread is a discussion of the incident at the time. http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=54468&page=1&pp=10 There is plenty of blame to go around here. Dan screwed up in not surfacing soon after losing his buddy, and he screwed up in not attempting to swim for the boat...

    I guess this was inevitable.

From the article: >Carlock's attorney, Scott P. Koepke, said his client hoped the suit would ensure that >no other Southern California divers go through what he suffered. >"He thought about it a lot and realized he could not live with himself if two or three >years from now somebody floats...

    San Diego in January

The Lois Ann has E7-100 tanks, and pumps nitrox onboard, if you're into that. I heard Blue Escape is out of business. Their web site seems to be gone, as well.
