    Questions on ScubaPro Jetfins

They (F1s) also cost about a pair of spring straps more than Jets :P

    Questions on ScubaPro Jetfins

I don't know about them specifically, but really it's rubber, so it should hold up pretty well. The difference between Jets and the other kinds I've seen (turtles, rockets, f1s) tends to be stiffness.

    Drysuit squeeze.

Except that's not particularly apt. The compression of board shorts (which is likely so minuscule as to be unmeasurable) due to increased pressure has little to do with anything. Boyles law absolutely applies. You have to equalize a drysuit but not a wetsuit for the same reason you equalize...

    Questions on ScubaPro Jetfins

XL should be fine unless you have mondo boots. I have a set of really thick wetsuit boots that won't fit my XLs, yet putting then in my XXLs is like throwing a pebble into the ocean. Some shops may add springs, but it's not OEM. Techdivinglimited.com carries some Jet copies that come with springs.

Beyond 130 feet: always a deco dive?

Lol fair enough. Knew there had to be.a practical reason.

Beyond 130 feet: always a deco dive?

Sorry for the hijack, but I've never seen anyone do that. Why? I suspect there's so much rounding involved in the forcing of even 10 foot or 3 meter intervals and whole minute schedules that a foot and a few seconds here or there is largely meaningless.

Beyond 130 feet: always a deco dive?

I assume (and may be making an ass out of at least me) that, while the safety stop is most certainly arbitrary and blindly added to each dive, the ceiling may be calculated. I guess the ceiling too may be an arbitrary depth, but I'm pretty certain they are completely independent of one...

Kelp Forest off Catalina Island [HD Video]

I've never dived Magician that I can recall, but Earle said he DMs that boat, so I may have to give it a shot.

Part of why a proper deep or Intro to Tech class costs what it does.

Gotcha. I find a strip of standard gray duct tape works nicely to temporarily cover the permanent lables and a thick black sharpie can be used to lable the tape. But yah if I weren't putting in a richer gas I wouldn't bother. I do agree you are likely undercharging for your ITT class. It...

You bring Nx50 and O2 for intro to tech?

Do I Need AOW to Travel?

I've only travel dived a few places (Mexico, Hawaii, Tahiti), but I was never asked to show an AOW card (which is fortunate since I don't have one).

Beyond 130 feet: always a deco dive?

For me it is. It's not worth gearing up for a few minutes of bottom time.

    Aperture mode versus Manual

Shooting aperture priority and shooting manual will give the same results if you (manually) adjust shutter speed to be dead center (or left/right a tick or two if your semi auto is set to exposure compensation) on the exposure meter. Note that the metering system can make a monumental...

    Aperture mode versus Manual

Ah, airy disk and all that. Fair enough. I've only shot at small apertures a few times (for wide DOF long exposure stuff), so don't have much real world data to look at. Thanks.

Why is this not the standard?

This is also true for DIR divers. DIR is fundamentally team diving. One diver wholly or very reliant on another diver DIR is not.

Ah yes, the book with the creepy topless (implied) photo of the author and his very young daughter :P

Why is this not the standard?

The context of this little discussion is early GUE and its use of the Hogarthian configuration though, right? The birth of the term was: "If it's not Hogarthian, it's not right. If you're not doing it right, don't do it at all." Now, it's possible to read the article and infer that GI3 would...

Why is this not the standard?

The standard equipment configuration associated with DIR is wrong for any environment where backmounted cylinders won't fit.

Why is this not the standard?

That's an inference; the term doesn't imply it It was directly stated that it's not right if it isn't hogarthian in GI3's article, but I've never seen Jarrod claim anything of the sort regarding his branding of DIR. Besides... I'm doing it right. You're doing it right. We're doing it...
