I have the Oceanic Geo and while I love the computer I did not want to spend the $100 on the download cable, this may entice me slightly. Still think it should come with the unit the disk did.
I couldnt agree more. I am a newly certified OW diver and I took the PADI Dry Suit course at the same time due to the colder temps in the North East. Beside having one of the best instructors around there were 2 things I noticed:
1- If you can get yourself under control in a swimming pool...
I was recently OW certified and got my 1st training on the Aga Fullface the other night in the river. We didnt plan on a night dive but by the time we got all suited up and set up darkness had begun to fall. First thing was first and they had me flood the mask and purge it above water. Then...
It appears that you are a little bothered by the recent events taking place in the world (Swine Flu / Pirates ) so here is my suggestion. Think about what this FREE trip (which isn't so free) is really going to cost you? You say your wife would be interested in this trip (which makes me assume...
I am one who had a HUGE issue with mask skills in the pool. The first time my instructor asked me to remove my mask, I took it off and shot to the surface. The most important piece of advise I had my instructor give me was to TUCK my chin. This helped the bubbles blow past my face without going...
I have the Oceanic and love it. If you took it to 7-8 feet and no depth reading then I would take it back and get another one. Oceanic is great at covering their equipment like D_B said.
My closest LDS is 12.1 miles and I have to pass it on the way to the local quarry which is a 13.3 miles from my house. With that said I actually drive 45.7 miles in the other direction to go to another LDS that I am fond of.
I am trying to get out to my local quarry once a week for 2 dives at least. If time or the wife allows then sat & sunday for 2 dives each day. So far so good.
I know which thread you are refering to and this person was out of line in my opinion and if they ever did something like that to me there would be a tank into their skull when they returned to the boat. Just the way I am.
I think you did the correct thing here and being a new diver myself...
If you would rather spend less on a computer for now then possibly upgrade in the future might I suggest the Oceanic GEO. I have this wrist mount style computer and I actually wear it everyday as a watch and then the extender strap stays in my dive bag. You wont loose it like some people say...
I would have to agree with Elan. I only have about 7 dives and all but my one dive in Bermuda was in a drysuit in 42 degree water. I would not have it any other way. I do own a 7mm wetsuit but from what I can see I will maybe use it 1 or 2 months out of the year. Go dry!
Being a new diver I do not have anything other then thank you to contribute to this yet. I just got through 20 pages of some very very funny stuff. Thanks again.
Let me clarify and say I would not be asking every weekend as I dont have the time either. I would want to borrow it on the occasional weekend where they are not around and I have time. I was also thinking of buying my own reg set up and maybe just borrowing the rest.
Keep those thoughts...
