    Pocket Snorkel Recommendation

I've been using a Cressi Corsica flexible snorkel for years. It fits easily in my drysuit or pockets shorts pocket and snaps back into shape afterwards. When I'm snorkeling, it works great. It's a simple freediving J-tube.

Should I wear a snorkel or not

Have a snorkel on every dive, but I only wear it when snorkeling/freediving. While on scuba, it's in my left pocket.

Why Long Hose Follow up - Air Sharing Part 2

How could the panicky diver choke you with your lose hose? While your primary is in your mouth, the hose runs around the BACK of your neck. When you grab it and offer it to the OOG diver, the loop is no longer behind your neck and is out in front you.

Why Long Hose Follow up - Air Sharing Part 2

Your camera setup is larger than mine, but I don't think that that would be an issue. I use a Cetacea coil lanyard and when I'm using it, the shortening clip isn't engaged. So, when I let go, the camera rig will sink down well out of the way. Even a larger sytem would be out of the way.

Why Long Hose Follow up - Air Sharing Part 2

I have my camera gear tethered to my left chest d-ring. In an out of air situation when I have my camera set up (a housed Olympus with dual strobes), I simply let go of the camera gear (which is a bit negatively bouyant) and don't pay it any attention until after I get my reg back fromt he OOG...

Why Backplate and Wing? - BP/Wing vs Jacket BC

I'm a BP/W devotee and I don't like being at the surface in rough conditions. I'm also often well out of shape. Nonetheless, I don't have a problem staying upright in rough conditions in either my cold water or tropical BP/W setups. This might be because I use a steel BP for tropical and a...

Diving lights next to camera with strobes

My light is on a Goodman handle in my left hand. When photographing, I turn my left wrist bring the light closer to or farther away from the subject, as the situtation dictates. E.g., I may bring the light closer to enable focussing, then lock the focus, move the light away and take the...

Kohala Coast Diving vs Kona Coast?

There are two good dive operators on the Kohala coast: Kohala Divers and Blue Wilderness. In addition, there is good shore diving, including at Puako and Mahukona. Kohala Divers runs its boat out of Kawaihae Harbor and Blue Wilderness runs its boat out of the Puako boat ramp (say "hi" to...

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, Plaintiff, v. JERRY NEHL BOYLAN, Defendant.

Wow! Just wow! (I wonder if he thought to make a claim for the malpractice of the insurance defense lawyer.)

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, Plaintiff, v. JERRY NEHL BOYLAN, Defendant.

Plus, the criminal defendant's lawyer will, without a doubt, move to stay the civil action to avoid having his client be forced to give a deposition. If he didn't, doing the deposition would waive the defendant's right against self-incrimination. So, typically, the civil case is stayed until...

Aeris Elite T3 not responding after battery change

The Aeris Elite T3 is the same as the Oceanic VT3, which Huish DID acquire. I'd ask them again.

    Looking for photoshop tutorial

Another vote for GoAskErin. Erin Quigley is the preeminent expert in this field and is having a special offer on "bundles" of tutorials. I've "attended" a number of her live events and they are very "content rich" and helpful. I've purchased her "Zero to Hero" bundle and highly recommend it...

    Avalon Diving History exhibit

Just finished watching the Sea Hunt episode, "The Stunt," where Mike Nelson and an obnoxious publicity hound raced from the mainland to Catalina with their Porta-Subs. Great to see that one of them is still there.

DSS Bungee Mount and Suunto Zoop Novo

In my experience with DSS bungee mounts (but not for Suunto), it's best to soak the mount in hot tap water to loosen it up enough to get your computer in (or out).

Hawai'i Pelagic Magic/Black water night dive?

It's a great dive and always different. You'll never know what you'll see, from the very tiny, alien creatures to megafauna like sharks or rays. A good friend of mine has, quite literally, written the book on Hawai'i black water diving and it just came out. Buy a copy and, if you book through...

    Puerto Galero or Dumaguete?

I spent a week at each Atlantis, Puerto Galera and Dumaguete. I enjoyed each week and each Atlantis facility and staff were equally excellent. Super friendly and comfortable. Insanely great food, too. And their photo facilities are beyond dreamlike. I did 60 dives each week. (It would...
