Should I take the Rescue class?

I found it pretty hard to believe myself. But this is a major tourist area. They probably need as many instructors as they can get to keep up with the demand for OW and AOW classes and just don't want to waste time training people like me. That is the only reason that makes any sense to me.

Should I take the Rescue class?

"I only dive recreationally and have no desire to go pro. Is Rescue something I should do or just stay as AOW?" I commend you for wanting to take the rescue course. I wanted to take it too for the same reason. But every dive shop I went to asked me if I was pursuing a career. When I told them...

    M7 port on 3585 Cyklon 1st stage?

What is odd is that the size is much smaller than the 3/8 ports. It's my understanding the metric lp ports on the other regs are very close in size and people have even managed to force 3/8 fittings in them not realising they were metric. There is no way a 3/8 fitting could be forced in the M7...

    M7 port on 3585 Cyklon 1st stage?

At first I thought it was connected directly to the hp chamber. I shined a light in the hp port and thought I could see it in the M7 port. After reading your post I took a closer look and it is definitely to the lp chamber. I was thinking that because it is a Swedish company that maybe they put...

    M7 port on 3585 Cyklon 1st stage?

Why would they not mention it in the service literature? They list and describe all the other ports but not that one. It is shown in the exploded diagram and parts list though. Could it be an attachment for an ip guage? It's really not in a good location for a lp port for a regulator or bc...

    M7 port on 3585 Cyklon 1st stage?

I have a 3585 first stage that has the milled flat ports and banjo fitting on the hp port. What I'm wondering is what the metric M7 port is for that is just above the hp port?

    Poseidon Cyklon 5000 vs. Jetstream

There is only way to solve my dilemma. I'm just going to take turns diving them and decide that way.

    Poseidon Cyklon 5000 vs. Jetstream

This is the factory banjo fitting for the hp and the weird M7 port is just above it. This first stage has all the ports milled flat unlike the Jetstream first. Internally they are the same parts except for the restrictor screw. Both have 2960 etched on the housing.

    Poseidon Cyklon 5000 vs. Jetstream

I can't find any info on the .pdf about how the restrictor screw is adjusted or what it is for or what the M7 port is for. The port shares the same chamber as the hp port. They are right next to each other and when I shine a light in the hp port I can see it in the M7 port.

    Poseidon Cyklon 5000 vs. Jetstream

Other than the number of ports I think internally they are the same. The only difference is a restrictor screw in the 3585 first stage for the Cyklone. I think it is used to limit the ip to one or more of the lp ports. I think the R port gets the 165psi and maybe the S port or one or more of the...

    Poseidon Cyklon 5000 vs. Jetstream

They are both DIN with yoke adapters. They both have the truncated? ends. One is not flat on one end like the 3790. The Cyklon one has one R port for the reg, three lp ports and an S port for a drysuit. And also has that weird metric m7 port that is blocked off just above the hp port. The...

    Poseidon Cyklon 5000 vs. Jetstream

This is a tough decision to make. It's like trying to choose between a Mustang or a Camaro.

    Poseidon Cyklon 5000 vs. Jetstream

@tbone1004 have you had the opportunity to dive both types with those first stages on them? It feels like the Jetstream breathes a little stiffer than the Cyklon but I haven't had a chance to go deep with it yet. It's my understanding that deep diving is where it performs better compared to the...

    Poseidon Cyklon 5000 vs. Jetstream

I believe my Cyklon first stage is a 3585 with the banjo fitting for the high pressure hose. Does anyone know what the M7 threaded port is just above the banjo fitting is for? I think the Jetstream first stage is a 2962 without the built in overpressure valve. I have seen the swivel for the...

    Poseidon Cyklon 5000 vs. Jetstream

If you had to choose one which one would you choose and why? The reason I ask is because I have one of each and I'm trying to decide which one to keep. I'm leaning towards the Cyklon because the second stage is a more familiar design to me and I have managed to service mine and reassemble it...

    Things you've found under water

Thethin chain bracelet turned out to be magnetic garbage. I just don't understand why manufacturers would bother to make something like that out of trash metal. It probably weighs about half a gram if that much. If it was real there would be about $0.25 worth of silver in it. Why bother to fake it?

Where to repair broken pull dump?

If the wire is broken you can use stainless steel fishing leader wire. That iscwhat it looks like a lot of the manufacturers use. I've even seen them with the same types of crimps and snap hooks that they use on leader wire.

    Things you've found under water

This morning at Mad Beach, FL in 3'-6' of water I found one thin silver chain bracelet, one plain silver ring, $0.11 change, one large fake gold hoop earing, three hair pins and a few pieces of crab trap wire. No pull tabs or bottle caps yay! But the water was nice and the sun was shining so it...

Sunken submarine outside of Tampa bay

My father told me about the U-boat wreck when I was a kid in the early 70s. It was common knowledge among divers and fishermen in the area around that time. Rumor was that someone had drowned while diving it. I don't know if there would be any way to research that in the local newspaper archives...
