Nice report and great photos...thanks for sharing! Now if I could get off my lazy ass and travel around the island a bit more.

    Decisions, Decisions, Decisions!

Another bonus for the G10 (or G11) is the fact that it can take video. Of course we're not talking about HD camcorder quality, but still very usable. If you had any of the DSLRs with HD video capability (such as the 7D or T1i) I'd say definitely go for the DSLR housing.

SI Tech Recalls Diving Suit Hoses Due to Drowning Hazard

I find it pretty sad that a (presumably blocked) drysuit inflation hose would be deemed to be the cause of a diver's death. I remember a hose that came with my Fusion drysuit (also recalled) that disconnected at least three times per dive--yet I'm still alive...

    LeisurePro vs LDS Package quote

What import duties? I spend a LOT of money on internet purchases from the U.S. and I pay the exact same in taxes that I would have been charged if I bought it locally. Many times I don't get charged a single additional cent (ie NO TAXES). Of course if you make the mistake and use UPS or FEDEX...

    diving near Sudbury?

I'm going to assume that you and your buddy are not visiting Sudbury strictly for it's diving (I hope). You won't have a hard time finding a place to get wet, but the closest wrecks/etc are in northern Lake Huron. I highly recommend drysuits regardless of the location. Hopefully somebody can...

    Scrubs for Dental/Medical people

Okay, well a really quick search found a lot of outfits like this one: Scrub 'n' Prints Wholesale Medical Nurses Uniforms & Scrubs. As Ron mentioned, you better have a plan B...

    Scrubs for Dental/Medical people

My assistant has scrubs with scuba divers(poor trim)/fish/etc on it. I think she picked them up in Vegas, of all places! I don't recall finding anything else like it in our supply catalogues.

    Canister light battery charging question

That's weird. For my Salvo light, I have to plug the charger into the outlet first, then connect the battery. If I do the reverse it doesn't charge. It's great living in an inconsistent world!

    Suunto download cable drivers?

Windows 7 is a pretty good operating system, at least among those offered by Microsoft. Whether it's worth upgrading really depends on what you use your computer for. It's an upgrade over Vista, that's for certain.

    Suunto download cable drivers?

If you have a serial port Suunto adapter, all you'll need is a USB-serial 'dongle'. They're cheap and should be easy to find. The only thing to keep in mind is that if you plug it into a different USB port, it'll be configured as a different com port, so for sanity sake keep using the same...

    Suunto download cable drivers?

The Suunto device will only be operating at serial port speeds, which is definitely slow by today's standards. I agree that the downloads can be brutally slow (especially if you have a lot of logged dives), but I use SuuntoEraser occasionally to purge the dive log. It's a handy piece of...

    Suunto download cable drivers?

Suunto devices have serial interfaces--inexpensive port electronics and simple to adapt to multiple operating systems and platforms. Their download cable includes a USB to serial interface. As archaic as it sounds, it is a good solution.

    DIR/GUE setup

I think a whole lot of things would have to go wrong for you and your team if you end up having to breath from your inflator. Having the combo inflator provides virtually no benefit, but adds another failure point (another second stage that can free-flow). My opinion is stick with the inflator...

My jaw started hurting on last dive

Assuming you are talking about your lower jaw (aka mandible), was it localized to any specific area? While a 'tooth squeeze' is certainly possible, the reduction in symptoms may simply have been coincidental as transient muscle aches are not uncommon during extended periods of having your mouth...

Traveling from the USA to Canada

I think taking the valves off is overkill and hopefully it won't come down to that in the future. When I lived in Ontario I'd occasionally buy equipment in Detroit. One such visit yielded two faber LP85s. I was out of room in my car so I put them on the front seat, strapped in with the...

Traveling from the USA to Canada

I've done the reverse -MANY- times and have never had a problem. That said, BC Ferries seems to have an issue with cylinders marked 'nitrox', so if you're coming over to the island keep that in mind.
