I have the same setup Nauticam + EM1 MarkII. My 3D printed zoom gear has OD ~72mm. I tested it without dome and it worked fine. If ID of ZEN port is 77mm then I have plenty of room.
Thanks everyone for advices. Just ordered ZEN DP-170II to use with my 12-40 and Pana 7-14. Working on 12-40 zoom gear design to 3D print and save some money :-)
Hi @Chris Ross,
A couple more questions:
1. Can you use all zoom range up to 40mm with your port?
2. I don't have experience with the glass dome port, is it easy to scratch? I dive a lot from the shore and try to protect my acrylic port as much as I can but had to polish it twice already. I...
Interesting idea. I already has 12-40 for land use so it might be cheapest option. I have a couple concerns:
1. My 7-14 has sharp center but pretty soft corners inside the dome so I wanted to try something behind the flat port.
2. Nauticam Port Chart says that 12-40 needs 180mm glass dome or 7"...
Hello,
Considering to add a fish-portrait lens to my collection (8mm fisheye, 7-14 and 60 macro). Looking at 14-42, 12-50 or 30mm macro. Any advice?
Thanks a lot,
Vitaly
I can be wrong about sanity breaths. Never had CO2 hit and hope won't have it in the future. My point is different. I'd like to stick with the approach which works for any dives I do (air, normoxic, hypoxic). My BOV is connected to offboard tank and even I think that it adds some safety I still...
Switch to OC mode is easier and faster with BOV. It also helps if you need to take a few sanity breaths in case of CO2 hit. Other than that using OC reg is more convenient way to bailout especially in case of switching gases for deco. Also all my BO regs are more comfortable to breath than my...
Check diverightinscuba for 3l tanks and hollis valves. I just ordered one more tank (4th in my collection :) ) last week. BTW Hollis valves look cool but regular inline valves work fine too. I prefer Hollis but all my buddies use regular inline valves.
There are different views on using BOV on...
+1 for checking electronics. I personally wouldn't buy an old non CANBUS version.
How many hours are on the unit? My Prism2 is about 4 years old and ~235 hours and it works fine.
I agree that PADI doesn't teach right to use a drysuit but I wouldn't recommend to combine fundies with drysuit initial learning. Learn drysuit basics and have a few drysuit dives before fundies begin. The class is tough and you don't need extra stress :-) Another option is taking fundies in...
Hi CuriousRambler,
Ping me when covid is over. I took fundies a couple years ago. Dive mostly rebreather now but do open circuit dives occasionally using my DIR rig. If I available I can dive with you and try to show what to expect from Beto's class.
