    Tekna question

Hi Guys, Just a question of "historical" interest. Way back when, Tekna seemed to burst onto the Aussie market with a bang : innovative stuff and an initial good rep. This seemed very short lived and the company seemed to fizzle and vanish. Anyone know the story? Just curious. Thanks.

    Advanced breathing technique

These guys are absolutely correct. Breath holding does nothing more than convert a situation where you are catering physiologically to the demands of your body in terms of O2 requirements. Once you challenge those needs, CO 2 increases, but also the potential for initiating anerobic metabolism...

    Advanced breathing technique

You are indeed partly correct ; this is in fact an advanced technique of sustaining injury, and a poorly thought out method for catastrophe. I know of no one who can assure their depth while cavorting with an octopus. Breath holding with an open airway is used when trying to find a solution for...

    Galileo Sol...some experience

Just returned from 3 weeks of aggressive diving with my Galileo Sol. Just some observations. It worked like a charm and was reliable and reassuring. My back up was an Aladdin Tech 2, which has the same algorithm as the Sol.That being said, I decided to adjust the Sol to varying levels of...

What about the warranty issue related to items such as Scubapro, Atomic etc. I also note that their prices can be as low as half of the RRP.

    Waterproof 3mmm Capri wetsuit

I purchased the 3mm Waterproof Capri wetsuit for a recent trip to Palau. I had not heard of this brand previously, but was curious after reading about it in a short mention in a popular magazine. Their comment was that it was "stiffer" than the latest stretch type suits as the manufacturer does...

Diving with Fish n Fins in Palau, and on board the Ocean Hunter III

Stinker....I don't blame you. But then again it was hard to compete against guys who have $6000 housings, $2000 cameras and strobes. But...just wait and see. I know that at least 0.00001% of my photos came out

Diving with Fish n Fins in Palau, and on board the Ocean Hunter III

In terms of pics, I have yet to enter the 21st century and have been using a Nikonos V. Film currently being processed. I promise I shall add pics to this thread to elevate it to the level of "worthiness" for you. ;)

So this is why I need to pee so often?

Ahhh guys, actually the increasing positive pressure is transmitted to the heart which releases a hormone known as Natriuretic Peptide. This is a diuretic...hence your need to pee. Advice : hydrate before the dive.:blinking:

Diving with Fish n Fins in Palau, and on board the Ocean Hunter III

Hello all, I just returned from 3 weeks away in Palau which I must admit was the trip of a lifetime. The first week was spent at the Palau Pacific Resort,(PPR), then one week aboard Ocean Hunter III, followed by a return to PPR. While the resort and diving in Palau is well known, and has been...

    Possible PFO indicator????

Hi Guys, One other thing in terms of the arm pain etc, again depending on how vigorous the sneeze fit was, is a neck problem. I suggest this due to the radiation of the pain, hand etc. If it was to persist, I would have someone look at it in terms of that possibility. Now in terms of color...

    Possible PFO indicator????

I guess it depends on what you define as a "huge" sneezing fit. Some people actually hyperventilate transiently. This causes a transient drop in blood calcium which may manifest as tingling. It seems quite unlikely that this is a manifestation of a PFO.

    Atomic T2 question

Thanks. So the T2 is based rather than a "duplicate" of the mk X and 250? It has evolved past that ; correct? Any ideas in what way?

    Atomic T2 question

I was just speaking with a LDS regarding an Atomic T2. He was saying that it is in fact an old Scubapro design which has been surpassed with current designs. He wasn't pushing SP per se, but also stated that there have been legal battles between the 2 companies etc as the Atomic...

    Palau accommodation and dive operator

I just returned from 3 weeks in Palau (full review to follow shortly); trip of a lifetime. I dived with Fish n Fins. One week land, one week Ocean Hunter and then final week land, staying at Palau Pacific Resort. Let me say that Fish n Fins (FNF) are extraordinarily professional and more...

New insights into exercise before diving

Exercise has been controversial in relation to DCS. However, the references sited by Dr Deco ( thanks!) implicate nitric oxide, a potent vasodilator ; in other words, a compound which opens blood vessels. As such it enhances blood flow through tissues which would predispose to enhanced delivery...

    Rescue diver, theory vs practice

This is an excellent and informative thread. The efforts made by Diver0001 and the participants are to be applauded : thank you. I really just want to make a point regarding emergency situations which often eclipse the demands of the patient/victim, and that is our own level of anxiety and...

    Viagra and diving

Viagra does have potent effects on the pulmonary circulation, and it is a cheap (relatively) method of treating patients with a condition known as pulmonary hypertension. As such it opens up blood vessels that were either closed or not delivering blood to alveoli ( gas exchange units in the...
