What is a day like diving from Nusa Lembongan Vs Labuan Bajo?

We did both, with usually 2 dives at both places. I personally enjoyed the slower boat trips at Komodo and the diving in my opinion is also way better. Went diving there with Divine Diving. The daytrip boat is fine and they offer inexpensive liveaboard trips as well. At Nusa Lembongan you're...

    Regulator Options for GUE

We plan to do Fundamentals in august this year and just switched to doubles with new regulator sets. We discussed some options with our instructor and ended up with the Scubapro MK25 (because of the hose routing) and the Scubapro G260 second stage. We intend to get into cave diving and an...

    Course recommendations? Advanced recreational diver.

Agree 100%. After fundamentals you can always proceed with other courses like cave or technical.

    Weight systems poll

Warm water diving: I prefer to use the weight pockets of my wing. Cold water diving: Currently still using the weight pockets of the wing (with double tank setup) but saving money for v-weights. My undersuit, a Santi BZ400, still has to settle so I might wait for that to happen before changing...

How do you wash/rinse your dive gear??

We just rinse our gear with a hose in the backyard. Pretty strait forward really. When it stops leaking we transfer everything into our garage for futher drying. I rarely wash our undersuits.

Have you also worked as a dive guide in Komodo (6 years ago, Divine Diving)? You look familiar :)

    Dutch scuba fans?

I see you'll do your dives at the Beldert. A great place to practice and do some fun dives as well. We intend to go there more often this year but the weather has to be a bit better (we want to do some more training dives before we'll start our GUE Fundamentals training im august).

When to call a dive... a question of limits.

I would not call a dive for 1-2m visability. In the Netherlands it is very likely that at some point during your dive the visibility will be that bad. When I mean bad visibility I really mean 0, noting. To the point where you can't even read your instruments. That just sucks.

When to call a dive... a question of limits.

I called a dive a dive a couple of times when the visibility was so bad you could see absolutely nothing. Had to hold hands with my buddy. I remember this one time my buddy wanted to continue (god knows why) and at first I said it was ok. After another 10 minutes or so I decided to give up...

Forgot to hook up inflator - near miss

My thoughts exactly :). Would still be a shame though to drop your weights at the surface, especially if there are other ways to stay afloat. They can be pretty costly and it would be impossible to retrieve them with the bad visibility and muddy bottoms here.

Forgot to hook up inflator - near miss

Dropping weights was not something I was taught... Saw a diver once who tried to take of his weight belt at a depth of 20m. Just in time the DM prevented him from doing that. I can't think of a situation where dropping weights seems like a good idea?? Especially not at greater depths. However I...

Santi: is it really worth the Money

Agreed that in that case it is propably better to use more solid boots. Most dives I don't have to deal with rocky shores (grass and / or mud are more common where I live).

Santi: is it really worth the Money

I own a Santi E-lite Plus and I love it. Can't compare to DUI because I've only owned a Waterproof drysuit before. The Santi is a way better fix because it is custom made to a certain extend. Same with the BZ400. The store we bought the suits also mentioned the boots being a weak point. Sooner...

    Dive assure or DAN insurance?

Because of all the good stories we've heard about DAN during the years we decided to go with them. Luckily never had to file a claim ourselves but should such an event ever occur a cheaper / less known alternative is propably not worth the fuss :).

    Dutch scuba fans?

Hi, I'm from the Netherlands as well, I live close to Tilburg. Usually we (my partner dives as well) go diving somewhere near our home. Not a lot to see but nice to practice skills every now and then. I believe it has been years ago we went to Zeeland... Besides that we try to go on a diving...

"Nervous" travellers and Phillipines and Indonesia

Have been to numerous places in both the Philippines (Manila, Anilao, Coron, Malapascua, Cabilao, Donsol) and Indonesia (Komodo, Nusa Lembogan, Raja Ampat, Bunaken, Bali, Lembeh). Never felt unsafe. Just use your common sense (as you should in every other coutry or city) and you will be fine.

How many dives did you manage in 2019 - Recap

Managed to do somewhere between 30 to 35 dives. 10+ in the Netherlands (wreck diving specialty, some training dives and testing our new Santi dry suit). We intended to do more but during the last couple of months we both have had a couple of colds which where quite a dealbreaker. Then we also...
