    Probable Scam

You should not reply to those random tests. You are giving them "proof of life" and they will just keep messaging you and selling your info to others. They are all from hacked/stolen numbers. Just block them.

Which Operator if Diving for 4 days & finished each day by lunchtime (have Advance Certification)

You want to pick an op with extremely fast boats if you are staying in town. I can only recommend Tres Pelicanos also referred to here as 3P. I'll give you a pro tip to get back early. For the second dive, ask to dive on the sites already half way home like Yucab, Tormentoes or Paso de...

    Solo Traveller Plans

Hello, I am recently divorced and have lost my built in dive buddy. As I rebuild my friends circle, I am wondering how to visit Bonaire or if I should go somewhere else. My thoughts on Bonaire. History. I am a competent diver and could easily lead dives at Bonaire. i.e. Plan the dive...

Trip Report Cozumel in early June, 2025 - Iberostar Resort and Dressel Divers

Way too much hate on this forum for AIs people have never stayed at. My one comment about the Iberostar, which I have stayed at, is don't view them as black and white - AI or in town. Stay where you like and if its an AI have a night in town or two and take a taxi. Honestly, as someone...

    Summer diving and Port Closures

Last time I was in Coz, a gentleman I was diving with had dive insurance that paid him $150 per day he missed whether he paid or not. I cant recall the name of the insurance. Not sure those Aldora polices are still in effect. I missed 4 consecutive days of diving on a 1 week trip last Oct...

    Cozumel May 2025 RollCall

I was there last week May 10-17th and the currents were highly variable. We had 2 dives with reverse currents, 1 dive at Cedral where the current went S, then N, then S, then N then S again and we finished S of the drop in and finally one crazy ride at San Francisco Wall where I was in a down...

    Bonaire first visit

Ever watch the movie Dodgeball? There is scene with a quote "if you can dodge a hammer you can dodge a ball." You can imagine what the scene includes. At Buddy Dive they have hula hoops for you to practice your buoyancy. And they have fire coral on them for added incentive. :) Dark humor...

Hotel / Diving Recommendations - Family of 4 - New to diving

You are getting a wide range of unequal choices here which will overwhelm you. First decide if you want an AI, a hotel or an airbnb. Think closely about your meals. There are advantages and disadvantages to all of them. When I travel with my family we have stayed at the Iberostar. That...

Should I check out other dive ops?

DSMB have some kind of pressure release valve so they can be filled underwater and not burst when they rise.

Should I check out other dive ops?

We should be careful here about SMB and DSMB. SMB you deploy from the surface and isnt it a requirement to deploy one as part of OW? This is not hard. DSMB is deployed from depth and takes skill. While a DSMB might be ideal, not sure that is required or even advisable without practice...

Should I check out other dive ops?

^^^^ This is important to stress. There are times the current will split and then split your your group. It happens. I was on a dive maybe 10 yards from my wife and the rest of the group. We came around a coral island and the current split. I was being pushed away from the group...

Should I check out other dive ops?

The funny thing about snorkels is they arent needed except when they are. Surface without your group in rougher ocean and you might wish you had one. They are part of scuba safety gear along with an SMB, a mirror, whistle, a light, etc.

    What happened to Cozumel?

This situation is out of character from the Aldora I know. They bend over backwards for you. I'm diving with them in May. But I should add, I am a competent diver, show up with working gear, don't create drama. If I showed up with broken gear and not dove in over a decade, I would expect...

    Conch poaching in Marine Park

This is sad. There are how many cruise ships and how many passengers visiting the island each day spending crazy amounts on taxis, fake cigars and other novelties and poaching conch is still happening?

No diving in several years - Aldora a poor choice?

This will be a YMMV topic... I took a trip to Cozumel a few years back thinking I would dive air and save a bit of cash. I am very good on air and can easily go 60 min+ on most Cozumel dives. I immediately found my dives went from air limited (meaning running out of air) to NDL limited...

Best Dives for Beginners Going to Cozumel

The best advice is to hire a private DM for a couple days. Tell them you want mentoring not babysitting. They will get you comfortable and build confidence.
