Yes some are better than others but they all offer entry level to the higher end stuff. Just make sure you are getting your gear from an authorized dealer so you can get it serviced and if something does go wrong, they can fix it. Just remember if the price is so low you think it's too good to...
Larry is right on point. Nothing will turn off a customer quicker than service like that. Whenever you get "nickeled and dimed" in a retail situation it just leaves a bad taste in your mouth, and you just will not go back there.... and why should you? To get more attitude and bad service? Why...
Yep, I agree the Hyperstretch is from Henderson and XS Scuba coined the phrase Pyrostretch. I'm guessing it's the same material, as they likely get it from the same manufacturer. (Just an educated guess)
I've hear the golf ball collecting one can be pretty gruesome, but a few of us will be trying this out this spring/summer in lakes with sandy bottoms (hoping for a little vis and some free golf)
Our instructor brought a little underwater vehicle which was fun to play with for a while. They certainly kept me entertained, but then again, I could see someone really screwing that up too. May Rock Paper Scisors is the answer then.
My whole family was planning a trip to Hawaii, so we wanted to all get certified. We did, then dove in Hawaii. Simply amazing, then we soon found out Scuba is like the mofia, once you're in.... you can never leave. So now I count the days between dives. It's what keeps me going.
Dave,
Great report, I've heard the Spiegel Grove is a nice place to dive. Sounds like you logged a few on that trip. Congrats.... you've made us all jealous! And anxious to get back in the water.
Welcome Flextime. Just got done diving in Hawaii. It was as others have said... like bathwater.... temps averaged between 76 to 78. So ya, if you are used to 7mm in 50 degree water, a 3mm will suit you fine.
Welcome Chris, your intro is like most radio programs..... "Long time listener, first time caller." Suppose you knew that already though. You are right this is a great place to learn about scuba, have a great time :)
Snowfire! Welcome. I finished my open water cert through the Homestead Crater too! Pretty warm eh? that is quite a trip from Colorado, or did you do your training here?
buy the 5/4mm for sure. I went diving in Hawaii in December, the water was about 77 to 78. I wore a 4/3 and got a little chilly on the 2 tank dives. My brother had on his 5/4 and normally gets cold just as fast as I do, and he said he was nice and warm. I was jealous. A 5/4 is a good all around...
