I was one of the fortunate ones who didn't have to dive with a guide. I like forming dive plans with my buddies rather than having some guide decide where we will go. Guides are nice for suggestions but sometimes those side passages are just begging to be explored. If you have the training...
Thanks Bob! It was great to have met you. Always nice to put a face to a name. I'm glad you are having a good time. :-) You haven't seen anything yet. Just wait until tomorrow. :-)

LoL! That would pretty much describe it...
Well, I made my 100th cave dive today in the beautiful Nohoch cave system in Mexico. Couldn't have asked for a better place to do it. It's an amazing system. Some rooms are so large that they could easily accomodate a large plane. The formations are truly a wonder of nature. Large flowstone...
LoL! Why do I hate reels?? Lets see....
1. They tend to get buggered up at the worst possible moment
2. The retainer screw likes to fall off
3. I have small hands and they are either too bulky or my hand starts to hurt from holding the handle
4. They tend to get buggered up at the worst...
LoL!! Ginnie was pretty clear. To me the flow seemed a little less than it was the last time I was there but I've also heard that people think the flow is up. The mainline is easily swimmable. Forget about getting anywhere near Peacock. It's absolutely flooding although the whitewater rapids...
There is a specific rule at Ginnie Springs that says OW divers cannot have lights in the Devil's System. There are signs everywhere that say no lights allowed. If OW divers are caught with lights over there they can get kicked out by the management since it is violating their rules. The theory...
I know there have been several posts regarding this subject but it can't hurt to have another one. Please OW divers stay out of the caves! I was diving Ginnie Springs today and we had to deter two OW divers with gauges dangling and dinky flash lights from entering the cave. The worst part was...
Paranormal divers??? I believe in the paranormal because I've seen and heard some things that my scientific mind just can't explain and because of that I joined a scientifically based paranormal group to try and get some explanation. Yes I have a bit of a nerdy side. :-) I've been to some...
It was actually kind of neat to be able to observe Peacock in the process of reversal while in the system. Paul said that that is something few people ever get to see.
How do you get past the urgent need to breathe? I can barely swim for 20 seconds underwater before I feel the overwhelming need to surface and breathe before I pass out.
Take my lowly opinion for what it's worth but I went on the Mexico trip last year. With my rig all I had to do was put 1lb weights on each cam band. I started out with 2 lb weights but they were too heavy and messed with my trim. I use the SMS 100 with Edd's mods.
I'll volunteer to carry your lights, however I will not carry the 35 watt HID. I think I'd be pinned down on the bottom of the cave if I strapped that thing on. :-)
FWIW I'm a sidemount diver with my dump valve on my shoulder with a pull string and my inflator on the bottom. I love the dump on my shoulder because it's so easy to pull the string and vent. I can vent just fine horizontally, vertically, or in pretty much any position. I can even vent from the...
