@diverrex: Thanks, yeah don't wanna skimp. I already have an Oceanic alt/octo, so I'm only looking at primary 1st/2nd stage sets for under $300. Oceanic, HOG, ScubaPro, Atomic, Hollis, Sherwood, etc. I'm not familiar with ODS, but will read more.

Don't see many posts about Cressi, are their regulators not of the highest reputation like the others in this thread? How does the Cressi XS Compact Pro / MC9 SC model stack up? Or keep it off my list?

Thanks Stuart. I have an XS-Foto GoMask with the GoPro mount in center. Not sure how experienced divers feel about those, I might be changing up. I think I'll pickup one of the $60 SeaVision magenta models and try it out. Just an FYI @pinshootr , your giant image is making the entire thread...

@stuartv : You don't find the magenta lenses too dark at lower recreational depths? Do you know the difference between the Sea Vision 2000, 2100, and Ultra (2200?) But I do like the idea of those HydroTacs.

Thanks, yes definitely going to be active. Most likely by boat trips, not live-aboard. I'll be seeing a few things in Ecuador/Rainforest, but the bulk of the trip will be a week on Galapagos. I'll be talking to the two women at the FirstWorld Dive & Travel Center in Englewood. Apparently...

Cool, I should've stated in the o.p. that for now I'm purely a rec. diver, not commercial, tech., cave, etc. When I move to Florida next year I might get into more advanced stuff like that. And I'm not looking to service my own equipment. Would have an official tech. do that for me regularly...

Next month I'll be doing my AOW cert. here. It's located East of SLC, near Midway, UT. Any advice, tips, dangers, restaurants, etc. I should know about ahead of time? I'm sure my dive shop will fill us in, but it's good to know all the real world experience from others who've done it...
