    Purging, Pony's and Panic

Bingo. But practice it correctly after consulting with a qualified instructor. DumpsterDiver makes a good point. I took my OW from and 'old school' instructor in 2003 and we were required to learn how to breathe past water in the reg etc. if you didn't learn this is in your OW class you missed...

    Purging, Pony's and Panic

As I stated above. Blow the reg clear then breathe slowly over the water (if any is left). That should be covered in OW. Purge isn't in itself an issue and can be used, but you'll rarely find divers doing gas switches using it. The only thing I use purge for is to get my regs off my tanks...

    Purging, Pony's and Panic

You are missing the point of your issue. I've never (or rarely) use a purge for a gas switch. The amount required to clear a reg is so small that it can be done even with next to no gas in your lungs. You follow the lung purge by a slow and careful draw on the reg to breathe over any water left...

    Argon?

Note that argon is more common in mix divers. Helium is considerably thinner than air (or argon) and has very little heat retaining properties. In this situation an ancillary system to feed your suit with something other than backgas is advisable. Most people using argon systems do so because...

    Argon?

I don't even wanna know how they did rectal temps during the dives. Those Military divers sure get the short end of the stick....in this case literally.

    Din or yoke?

    No argument here ;)

    Din or yoke?

When I was DMing I would see Yoke o-rings blow regularly. Most of them would blow when the reg was charged, but I did experience a few cases of them letting go underwater. It made an impression on me, especially considering these failures occurred with new divers who haven't had experience to...

Why No HOG Reg Reviews in Recreational Dive Magazines?

I've read that thread. Your pictures show a stage set up where you state you wouldn't use a diaphragm reg on deco bottle, which most agree is a non issue. This thread, you reference a review that Duane produced and tried to argue that the reg isn't in the way with a setup not like a manifold in...

Why No HOG Reg Reviews in Recreational Dive Magazines?

Actually that's wrong. Duane's feedback was on valve drills: 'Next up I wanted to see how the HOG regulator compared to my Apeks on my double tank configuration. I put an Apeks on my backup post and the HOG on my primary post. With this setup, I was able to switch between the two regulators...

Why No HOG Reg Reviews in Recreational Dive Magazines?

It's not an issue. Especially considering almost all of my deco starts in 38-42F water.

Why No HOG Reg Reviews in Recreational Dive Magazines?

Chrapi, You obviously know not what you speak of stating that there is a skill set gap in the reviewer. Duane is an accomplished diver and instructor. He has completed courses through PADI, SDI, TDI, GUE and others. He hammers valve drills in class and expects perfection I know you love your...
