I can't comment on the Aqua Lung Outlaw or Rogue, but I can say I really liked the Cressi Travelite when I had it: B.C.D.s-Travelight Man. I dove that thing till it leaked and the weight pockets wouldn't hold weights anymore. :-) I probably got close to 800 dives out of it.
I've since them...
I owned a Geo 2 and dove it till it died. I probably got over 700 dives out of it. Once I figured out the menus it was simple to use and rugged. So based on my past experience with the Geo 2 I'd suggest looking at the Geo 4 since it does have bluetooth connectivity. Syncing via USB is a little...
Thanks for the input, everyone. Before I go buy a new hood (this one is practically brand new anyway) or cut this one up, the first thing I'm going to do is just leave the bib out of the neck of my wetsuit the next time I go diving. That will probably be next month.
Greetings, everyone. I've recently moved back to the West Coast, to the Greater LA area, and want to start diving more regularly now that I'm close to the water. The majority of my diving has been in Asia and Indonesia in warm water so I'm relatively inexperienced in cooler waters and the gear...
As has already been pointed out the answer to this question really depends on what your tolerance to being cold is. The above water conditions will help with this and if it is sunny with little wind you can strip off any exposure protection, which I strongly recommend, and warm up in the sun...
My suggestion is to get into a habit of controlling your breathing. Breath in for 4 seconds, breath out for 6. Do this while hovering 1 meter off the bottom of the pool. The goal is to not move up and down at all. To ascend, just breath in more. This will also help you work on your trim. Follow...
I'd suggest doing it the other way around. Put the 2mm jacket under the 3mm full suit. That will all probably fit better. And as @JamesBon92007 says, just try it before you get in the water to see if everything fits.
I have this foldable snorkel: Oceanic Pocket Snorkel
It has what Oceanic calls a "snorkel lock keeper" which is a small device that you thread through your mask strap and the snorkel attaches to it via velcro.
This can be covered before you both jump in the water by TALKING to your buddy, planning your dive, and both agreeing on what behaviors are acceptable/unacceptable underwater and both agreeing how the dive is to be conducted.
One of the thing many new divers forget about diving within the...
As has been pointed out it is really up to what your preference is and what your tolerance to cold is like. In the summer months I frequently dove just a sharkskin top and board shorts, even when diving 4 dives a day. Other pros I know dove a 5mm full suit.
But the water is generally pretty...
This is my reel and SMB. As you can see I've tired off the string to the double ended snap bolt, and when I store it I roll the string on the reel, wrap it around the snap bolt, and clip the snap bolt to the reel. That's what the holes are for. I clip the end on the SMB to my BC, with the clip...
I agree. I also use a reel with a hole and I've never had any problems using it. However don't I stick my finger all the way through, but hold it with thumb and forefinger through the hole and let it spin as the SMB ascends. If something happens its very easy to just let go.
And yes, I have...
Hahahaha!
That reminds me of the first night dive I led on a particular dive site around Koh Tao.
We jumped in and descended just as it was getting full dark. I reached the top of the pinnacle, not quite at our maximum depth, and swung the light around a bit checking out where I was while...
I get the crackling in my ears often as well. It's just your ears equalizing. I've also gotten vertigo on ascending very occasionally. I just focus on something else for the few seconds it lasts.
