    Back From Truk/Chuuk--awesome!!

Sorry for the general comment, should have been more specific. Did the deep dives with a travel mix of 30%, switching to 23% at around 120ft. Deco on the line was 40%. Safer than doing it on Eanx 21, wouldn't you agree? BTW these dives were done late in the week, after an excellent...

Ras mohammed dunraven red sea diving

Congrats on diving the Yolanda at thirteen years of age! At least that's what your public profile says. Market Trader too. As to the Dunraven, well, it's okay for a one-off dive, but there are better wrecks nearby. Stay wet, Seadeuce

    Jet Lag and DCS

I second BigjetDrivers post, and would like to make one point. It is well known that fatigue can pre-dispose you to DCS. You don't have to feel tired to be fatigued! Jet lag will mean your metabolism has altered, slowed down, is inefficient. Together with dehydration that is a recipe for...

Euro (med?) diving versus the Carribean

Having done both, I can give an opinion. The Med. has a variety of diving available, but it does not have the warmwater temps of the Carribean, so no large coral reefs. However, if you are going in summer then you should not be disappointed. Fish life would be much less colourful than the...

    Dive Sites in Ireland

Please post or PM me any information/suggestions for 'don't miss' type diving or non-diving. I believe this is going to be a week or two trip after Christmas time frame for the end of this year (2005). All dive centres are closed at this time of year, so no rental gear available. If you...

    Red Sea Questions

Check out one of the better sites for info on the diving there: http://www.redsea-diving.info/ BTW there is a chance that one or two of the charter airlines are either owned, or have a codeshare agreement with scheduled airlines from your part of the world. If you find that to be a fact...

    Galapagos Liveaboard

Did a ten-day trip on the Mistral a few years ago. Excellent boat and food, great diving. Couple of tips to maybe save you some cash - I booked through an American company (I live in Europe), but gave them all the info as to what I wanted. Did my research, and decided to use the Mistral...

    Star Dancer V Paradise Sport

Can't say about Star Dancer, but things must have really deteriorated on Paradise Sport since I was on her in '98. She was one of the two best liveaboards I have ever been on. Can't see Mike Ball letting standards slip that much! Maybe a disgruntled guest methinks. Seadeuce

    Dahab vs Sharm vs ?

Dahab is laid back, relatively cheap, uncrowded, quiet, nearly 100% divers. Excellent divesites, with an option to go on excursions to Sharm/Thistlegorm. Camel safari nice. Sharm is pricey, touristy, more non-divers than divers, plenty nightlife. Good sites, again - crowded! Coral damage...

Which expert is right? re:Nitrox on air tables

Like many other divers on this forum I too began my diving with the USN tables, and thankfully survived. The stats quoted can be, and have been, the subject of much discussion over the years. Rather than get into a debate on such things, which will be inconclusive, I prefer to offer some...

Which expert is right? re:Nitrox on air tables

As a Nitrox Instructor I have come across this issue many times in the past. It has been discussed by many others, and there are a few points I'd like to mention from the concensus reached. The advantages in diving Nitrox have been mentioned, so I will not repeat them. However, as an older...

Red Sea, as compared to other places?? Liveaboard?

Red Sea areas are: Aqaba (Jordan) - easy diving, little current, mostly from shore. Good day trips to Petra/Wadi Rum/Dead Sea etc. Eilat (Israel) - more crowded, coral damage, little current, not a great choice in day trips. Dahab (Egypt) - laid back, Bedouin village plus hotels. Diving...

    Favorite Dive Phrase

Some of the ones I've seen, and ahem! not seen ... Scuba Dive for free - Pay for the Abuse! My worst day's diving is better than my best day's working! If work interferes with your diving - give up the work. Just a Down 'n' Out Out 'n' Down I get my highs down low Penetration...

    what is your longest dive?

Mine was 92ft (23 mins) for 108 mins. AL80, 36% EANx, in PNG back in '98. Most of the dive was in 28ft. One of these dives that just "happen" and are not planned. The site was Lavadi, diving from Paradise Sport. Watching two Octopi mating, tentacles ahem everywhere! Seadeuce

    rescue from depth

Thought my post would generate some food for thought, and responses! Let's elaborate a bit. Since we're at 80ft, the narcs should not enter the equation. The unconscious diver, if he were convulsing - as in OxTox, he would have his teeth clenched on the reg and be "fitting", then of course...

    residual narcosis ? . . . or what ?

Sorry for not remembering your earlier post. Would not think the same dive again will give an answer. The environment probably had nothing to do with it. Of course, should you get your air from the same source ... Best of luck in any case. Seadeuce

    Muritius recommentations

Have heard from others who've been that Mauritius is not great for diving. The diving on Isla Rodrigues, to the east of it, is much better. Do both and see! Seadeuce
