It was the first time that I actually used the suit. So I guess yes, that would be the case. I had put it on when dry a few times before but hadn't really gotten it wet.
The suit is a Large Tall size. It's also a 7 mil suit.
Not really. I've had it for about 6 months or so and I've already hit it with the toothpaste a couple of times. My thought was that it was fogging due to the colder water - (this wasn't a class location, and it wasn't heated. It's also a private parties pool).
Thanks for the ideas on the...
Might not fit... I'm 6 ft 4 in and I'm about 190. Tall and lanky. Nothing personal, but when it comes to something that's going to be on me, I'd rather by new. 'Sides, I can get one at my LDS for about $30.
I had a little adventure on Saturday. Thought this might be a little helpful for the fellow newbies to the Sport.
Okay, Time for a little review here, but first a little bit from the "Humor" section...
Ancient Chinese Proverb: Man who jump in cold water, must use facilities.
Saturday...
Not to Hurt Frank (Wookie's) Business or nothing, but I've heard that Capt. Bob Bates in Key Largo will give you a good time...
Better have a sense of humor tho, cuz yer bound to have a laff or two on that boat. :D
That might be a little while yet. Haven't got a date set for the classes. Got all the equipment, but just need the books, pay the tuition costs, and I'll be ready to go.
Looks like I'll be going through Dolphin in Sacramento.
I have friends that think the same way as well. I just tell them that most shark attacks happen with surfers and not with Divers - cuz they think that the surfer is a seal.
'sides, Most sharks don't like the sound of the regulator anywayz, I've heard.
Thanks for the tips. Salt Point/Gerstle Cove is about the same for me distance (3 hours, at least according to Google Maps) as Monterey (I live in the Sacramento Delta area). I saw it on a local website and it's been one I'd want to visit after me certification dives.
Well I guess I made my Decision...
I went into Dolphin in Sac on Friday, and when I got there, they were having a Seminar going on - So I wasn't able to get the Hood and Gloves from them. I went to the next best bet - Sport Chalet in Elk Grove and picked up a pair of Aqua Lung 3mm Thermocline...
Now that's a good tip. I already have a Henderson suit, just looking for the hood and the gloves. One of which happens to be a Henderson hood (7/5mm).
Thanks for the tips on the gloves. I've seen a couple of the Kevlar but I didn't know they increased warmth. How are they for flexibility...
I think that would depend - I don't think I've heard Monterey getting down to the low 40's (I've heard it's usually 52-59 degrees).
Thanks for the tips though. I know most of this stuff is a matter of preference...so opinions are something that everyone has.
I was lookingf at the Edge...
Now that's good info... they are going to have a black friday sale coming up... maybe I'll check them out then - they are my DS of choice. I think the only other major one is a Sports Chalet and they are a little pricey on some things.
In the area of hoods, what would you guys recommend?
I have a 7mm suit for Cold Water diving (which is most of it here in California). Should I match the Thickness of the suit with the hood, or would a smaller thickness work out.
I am a rather slender guy (6 ft 4 in, 190 lbs) - but I don't...
Hmmm that's interesting... then I guess where the classes go is a different part of Breakwater?
Wouldn't they want the students that are getting OW certified to have a safe time?
Not to Hijack the thread or anything...
