    Free diving fins

Freediving fins will not necessarily reduce your SAC but they will increase the distance you travel underwater. You simply move faster for the same effort exerted. They are also a pain in the ass if you are diving in a tight group, they make it harder to get in the water and out of the water...

Dumb question, but... how deep can you go?

10 years ago 120m was considered a rare and serious dive, now it's done every day. Even 150m have become "usuall". But reading the incident reports and talking to some of the deep divers there's a figurative wall at around 160-180m that keeps killing a lot of people.

    GUE JJ configuration

I clipped off the stages to my but d-ring, emptied my dry suit and used the doubles as a platform with my hands on the valves. Never doing it again, if I need to remove my gear in blue water again I'm shooting a lift bag and clipping the stages off to the reel, I don't care how bad it looks.

    GUE JJ configuration

That's exactly how a twin removal looks in most divers. Because most divers suck at removing their gear. For my advanced nitrox and tec 50 I had to remove it with 2 stages while neutrally buoyant. That was pain and I don't want to do it again.

    Liveaboard "Go Bag"

Make it small as possible. Cash, documents, credit card take no space. Small pen lights are way more convenient then a dive light that takes multiple 3a batteries or similar. It's not there to sustain you for multiple days stranded on a life raft, it's there to pay your way home after you...

British commandos during WW2 - drowning enemy divers?

Swiming out of a torpedo tube is "normal", or was at least. There is even a pool in Croatia with a fake torpedo tube to practice it in. Yugoslav frogman would practice it along with a x mile swim to objective and back in blackout conditions. But I have never heard of divers fighting...

Why do people add a few minutes to their last deco stop?

I don't necessarily add to my stops, but I like being in the water so I have no problem with staying there for another few moments. If that helps with any deco, great. If not, it's still time spent diving, so again, great.

    DAN Responds

I'm shocked that a company would admit guilt this openly, hope they don't get sued out of existence as on average they are very important and beneficial to the diving industry.

    Info Is DAN Insurance worthwhile?

There are 2 possible scenarios. Either the guide has a well planned operation, that does not leave their customers googling for a medivac hours after the incident, and knows the signs of severe DCS, which would mean that the video is embellished. Or the guide did not give a crap, which would...

    Info Is DAN Insurance worthwhile?

And when dcs turns out to be a heart attack or IPO who is going to be responsible for recovering the monitored body from the water? I'm not arguing for or against IWR, I'm just saying that it's a medical procedure and no organisation wants to take liability for recommending it.

    Info Is DAN Insurance worthwhile?

No insurance can recommend a medical procedure with no supervision from a medical professional, that's how you get sued. Also IWR with no definite diagnosis is also a great way to get drowned. THere is no magic call a insurer can make to get you out of trouble,. when diving remote locations...

    Info Is DAN Insurance worthwhile?

To be fair, I personaly saw people who were unable to walk, soaked in their own urine who refused to take the (FREE) helicopter ride to the (FREE) chamber because they were convinced they were fine. I'm not making fun of Woody. Anybody can get injured or sick and should not be ashamed of it. I...

Unknown Woody From “Dive Talk” DCS and Medical Journey

Got about half way and in my opinion this is their best video yet. Shows exactly how inexperienced divers don't deal and cope with DCS. Kind of funny that they don't get it and try to show it as a positive. Like yeah, I came out from a really nice 3 hour dive bent as a coathanger, could not...

Question TDI CCR AIR DILUENT DIVER COURSE cost

1200 euro for 5 days on the cheap. A really good course is 500+ euros per day and will likely be longer than 5 days.

My man look at the size of those things, they have to be opportunistic, and that means they eat what they can when they can. Even the large lobster populations in Florida can't feed the truck sized groupers you have swimming on those wrecks.

Save our Jewfish, aka Goliath Grouper news...

Having 60 apex predators on a 20m long wreck is insane, of course they will migrate. Blaming that migration, or to be fair mortality, on a very limited slot based cull of juvenile specimens is intellectually dishonest at best. Does anyone tag and monitor the groupers? Are you the guy behind...
