Is Mares Cyrano HFT still in production ?

The original HFT was silently pulled from the shelves because the locking pin for the piston would shear, and since then they did not release a hydroformed model.

    Electrical contact cleaner?

If you use any "regular" contact cleaner make sure to o2 clean it later if it's going to be anywhere near your loop. Not (only) for a fear of oxygen fire but because high partial pressure of any solvent gets you really, really high.

PayPal Sucks, Sides With Scammer in Hollywood, Florida

HA Good one. As a seller i'm afraid of pay pall, they almost always side with the buyer at my expense.

Question Should OC and CC divers respect the same limits for breathing gas densities at depth?

I'm a freediver, even now when I'm out of shape I have very good breath control, co2 tolerance and respiratory volume. On open circuit I can easily work hard at 60m on air. On CCR the first time I tried dredging at 40m I almost died, it's a completely different world. Even for rec dives I prefer...

    Shortening a LP inflator hose

Who is we? I will bet that most gas bank hoses and fill whips are made in a garage, and those are usually 300bar rated. Our surface supply hoses get made by the same guy who fixes our CAT excavators.

    Shortening a LP inflator hose

You have to shorten the hose and use a new fitting.

    Shortening a LP inflator hose

A hydraulics shop can crimp them properly for you, the factory is not using some voodoo ritual to magically seal it.

Info HotDive just got into rebreathers!?

Most of your scuba gear is already sourced from China, just because it's a OEM rebreather does not automatically mean it's bad. If it goes for 3-4k it's a interesting proposition, and if it's a mCCR it could be easy to upgrade with "safer" parts for cheap. Btw, straps are awesome, I want to...

    Doubles (Twin-Set) Removal & Replacement in Mid-Water

I live in a third world country where my life is worth less than the marina I was building? Using surface supply for shallow water work, especially when working with concrete is a massive pain in the ass that I prefer to avoid.

    Doubles (Twin-Set) Removal & Replacement in Mid-Water

I had to remove my doubles often, steel 12l with a alu backplate. My valves would get stuck in lines while working in bad-zero vis, and sinking to the bottom might break off the line so I had to stay as neutral as possible. It helps that I use a weight belt, it makes it easier to maintain...

Error Rebreather scooter divers sucked into dam turbines

It's in Europe, all intakes have to have a grate and a silt trap by law. Not to protect people but to protect the infrastructure. A large log or a piece of trash could criple a very expensive turbine.

Error Rebreather scooter divers sucked into dam turbines

If i understand this correcty, and I hope I don't. The soft bits went trough the grate, the rest did not.

Reducing DCI risk by staying immersed on surface after a dive

Filthy casuals. /s I love the last (free) 5 minutes of the dive, while everyone is crowded around the dive ladder and fighting to get to all the stuff you listed I'm having a protracted safety stop and watching all the critters that are floating around. Boat crews hate me.

Reducing DCI risk by staying immersed on surface after a dive

Does it help, possibly no. Does it cost you anything to do it anyway? People will get in a fist fight over free samples in a store, but will rush to get on the boat after the dive.

Question Near incident. What should I have done?

Absolutely agree, teaching people the right way, even by minimum agency standards, makes them better divers but you can't honestly say that it takes the same time or effort from the staff working in card printing factories. I was offered to be a part owner/manager of a dive centre in the...

Question Near incident. What should I have done?

To be fair Vis island is a "tougher" dive destination than the Keys. We are a good bit colder with the bottom temperatures going up to 15C 59F in the summer. 7mm wetsuit and a 15L steel tank mess with most divers that only used a shorty and a 11l aluminium. I wouldn't call it a indictment, the...

Question Near incident. What should I have done?

People on this forum have a very strange outlook on international scuba diving industry and the average tourist diver. In 6 years of guiding I would say that at least 90% of my customers would not be able to safely do a full dive without me (metaphorically) holding their hand. I realised this...

Question Near incident. What should I have done?

If I'm reading this correctly, the instructor was acting as a guide to the whole group during a course dive and lost his students. That means that he, at a minimum, is bad at his job. When in a bad situation prioritizing problems is important. Getting swept out to sea sucks and is potentially...

Unknown Polish diver dead - Lake Attersee, Austria

The only point of that dive site is to reach 100m, a lot of people use it for hypoxic courses as it's cheap and even more people use it to get that number on their computer.
