I don't think you need to have a lot of experience to get your AOW. Think of it as a continuation of your OW education and don't pay to much attention to the word "advance" getting the AOW doesn't make you an Advance diver, I think OW2 would be more appropriate. You will learn a few new skills...

I felt the same way when I first started diving, 35 ft felt very deep and I thought to myself, I would never feel the need to go passed 40ft. A few dives later and suddenly 80 ft feels pretty shallow... It really gets easier as you gain more experience.

I did 4 dives this past week, 2 in Catalina and 2 in Redondo I use a 7mm and I was very warm. water temp was 55 (catalina)last weekend and water temp was 59 tonight in Redondo.
