    Need a PERFECT honeymoon suggestion

Hey, I am French...:eyebrow: This is actually how my girlfriend and I like to travel, it's not so much about traveling cheap, it's more about avoiding the "big tourist super resort / disney land " type of place. We like to "blend in" with the culture as much as we can... best way to...

Beware Suunto computers D9 and Vytec.

Just an idea, but is it possible that some of the dive computers that show the wrong depth are actually set to a wrong altitude settings?

    Need a PERFECT honeymoon suggestion

Bali is a great destination and an incredibly beautifull island if you are on a budget, I would avoid the resorts though. you can rent yourself a lovely bungalow right on the beach for very little money. The "Lonely planet" book on Bali and where to stay is an excellent resource. The Phi Phi...

    BP/W choices

I have a Dive Rite transplate, and I am very happy with it. The shoulder pads do help with comfort when you have to walk far to your entry point and I feel the cross-chest strap makes everything more secure and help difuse the weight. But most important, the Dive Rite customer service is...

where to buy drysuit...USA or SPAIN?

There are a few good brands that are sold in Europe but not in the US, so you might have more choices there. However the bigger question is are you moving for work? will you be working for a US company or a europeen one. And if you are going to be working for a US company, will your salary be...

Aqua Lung Legend LX ACD or Apeks XTX200?

The XTX50, 100, 200 breath exactly the same way. The second stage on all three are identical. The first stage on the XTX50 is a bit bigger than the 100 and 200 that's all. I just got the XTX50 and paid around $465 with a free octo. at my local LDS. It's a great reg so far.

    Do you wear a snorkel?

I didn't say that certification agencies didn't require a snorkel for OW classes, I said that "Most" agencies did not "Stress" how important the snorkel is. I didn't say a snorkel make you a safer diver I said a snorkel is a very important piece of safety equipment, so that, for example if...

AOW on Oahu (Kinda Long Post)

First of all you shouldn't have done a 50ft dive with no viz on an OW cert. You just got certified an on your first dive after your cert. you already show bad judgement. Viz change constantly so it's impossible to predict how it will be during your vaction there, but if you know the days of...

    Malaria meds

I have lived in South east Asia (Malaria Zone) and never took any. Here is the thing, there are two school of thoughts: Taking the Malaria meds will not guaranty you not getting it. It may help prevent it, it may not. But if you get it, it is much more difficult to cure. If you didn't take...

    Do you wear a snorkel?

I use a snorkel all the time and I am always surprised to hear people that don't. A snorkel is a very important piece of safety equipment as well as a very usefull one. I guess most certification agencies don't stress the importance of the snorkel enough.

Where to take my Rescue Class?

I second that, hollywoodivers is definitly one of the best choice. I also hear very good things about Kathy at Dive'n surf in Redondo. There is also Tom in Glendal who teach at the YMCA (scubatomwetzel@earthlink.net)

the best wetsuir or semidry for really cold waters

I have a Mares isotherm semi dry and it keeps me very dry. The most I have done in one day was 3 dives and my torso area never got wet. Only the wrists and ankes area will get somewhat wet. It's a very good suit.

What do you pay for air, and where?

In L.A it's about $4-$6 for a fill without an air card. Hollywood diver where I get most of my fill charge $3 with and air card and $4 without. Some lds are very lax with air fill, the last time I went to Diven'surf I got a free airf fill card.
