video lights... are they really worth the $$

I apologize in advance if this is knowledge that everybody already know... All lights have different color temperatures and those color temperatures will affect the color of your footage as well as the color temperature of the environment your are shooting. It is extremely important to take a...

Finally See my HD... in HD (but with the green cast)!

That's why I said %90 sure ;) . It's an educated guess and I did read here and there problems with this particular camera, or to be precise this particular color space. Unfortuntly I couldn't tell you where exactly as I deal primarely with ProHD and film ( and I read a tone of stuff), but I...

Finally See my HD... in HD (but with the green cast)!

If you already have an housing with the Sony LANC connector and is you are thinking of getting it to work with a different brand, it should be a simple a "rewiring job" with a soldering iron. I think I might know how to get the specs. PM me if interested. If you went with a different...

Finally See my HD... in HD (but with the green cast)!

Not to disagree with you but the colospace is a known issue and is (90%sure) very probably causing the problem. However it is not a defect. The HC-7 output will play fine on any monitors that support this particular color space, the problem is that there is no monitors that yet support it.

LA county diving and training methods

Rock, Reef and Rips. Dealing with the "3Rs" + the tide/surf and any other possible conditions is what ADP means by beach entry/exit. Some beach have sand which make it easier of course, but many diving sites are reef/rock (silpery and very sharp) entry/exit which can be very scary and dangerous...

LA county diving and training methods

Actually having a long hose may present a problem for the ADP class which has nothing to do with your choice of the long hose nor ADP not beeing open to it, if it works it's good. But when practicing sharing air for example, you will make it easier for your buddy to complete the exercise which...

I love dive computers, but I want an analog back up for everything. Get the Viper 2 if you want, but I would keep your other compass. You already have it...

Opinions on LA County ADP dive instruction

I wouldn't say ADP passionate about skin diving and snorkeling, lol, I think the idea is to practice without the scuba gear first until you get the techniques right and then redoing it with scuba. They aslo want you to be strong swimmers. I do agree about the long hose, certainly something I can...

Finally See my HD... in HD (but with the green cast)!

I agree. Sony has been behind in the past few years and a very badly managed company. I remember the days (before HD) were most of the equipment we used was Sony... The industry is now mostly using Panasonic for ProHD. Canon is very good for consumer HD.

Opinions on LA County ADP dive instruction

The first class will be a gear check. You'll get a list of everything you need for the class. An instructor or an assistant instructor will check you gear for you to make sure they are ok. Then you will suit up and do a gear check in the water, to make sure your reg and bcd work. The problem...

    "Waterproof" Drysuit?

I was a bit skeptical as well until I tried one on. You can really feel the quality... The problem is that there isn't that many stores that have them in the U.S, and the one that do usually have only one in one size.

Finally See my HD... in HD (but with the green cast)!

Sony is having a tough time with HD technology and with their cameras... They have been loosing a lot of ground to Panasonic for pro.HD and to Canon for consumer HD. With your particular camera model, Sony has incorporated a propriotary color space call x.v.color, the problem is that no device...

Just ordered my DSS single tank BP/W rig!

You might want to try it with a weight belt first, I had the 16 pounds integrated weight with my Diverite bp/w and decided to take them off. I think in an emergency, a weight belt is much, much safer or I should say faster to ditch. I also thing that the weight is better spread out, you don't...

    "Waterproof" Drysuit?

I have tried their 7mm wetsuit, and it is a very nice suit but twice as more expensive as most good quality suit. Maybe because the US$ is so low right now.
