    Where would you live?

Btw, what a lovely situation to be in. The worlds your oyster :D I'm not jealous, honest!

    Where would you live?

Singapore, KL & Bali would be high on my list, as have already been mentioned. In Thailand, I would consider Phuket with its international airport and international schools etc, or Krabi area. How about Barcelona? Close to Medes islands. I haven't dived there but I've heard good things.

    Trip report: Bali with a Baby - Oct/Nov 2019

Haha, yes our first trip to Bali/Indo in 2017 had the same effect. We went to N Sulawesi the following year (which worked out well with kids in tow) and we've started to plan our trip back to Bali next August. (this year we visited Marsa Alam, Egypt in April & Koh Tao (east coast) in August)...

    Ditto on both counts.

Korean & Instructor drown - Phuket, Thailand

I agree about choosing carefully but I disagree about better diving in the gulf of Thailand. Koh Tao has some decent enough sites but forget about basing yourself in Koh Samui or phangan if you're on a diving holiday. In general, Andaman coast offers the best diving in Thailand. If you want to...

    Planning an affordable diving holiday

Good to hear it all worked out well  We stayed in Tanote Bay on the east coast in August and dived with Calypso divers, who I was impressed with, and am also happy to recommend them.

    Newby computer, what to get?

I believe many do dive AI without an SPG. For me, I already had a compact SPG before I got my AI computer. It doesn’t take up much room in baggage for travel and don’t really notice it on a dive as it runs under my left arm and clipped off on my left shoulder D ring. When I’m on holiday I don’t...

    Newby computer, what to get?

Not necessarily: Mares Led Tank Module | Mareshop.eu Auction sites can also be your friend. I got my transmitter for half the retail price on eBay. It hadn't even been used, just unwanted as the seller changed his mind apparently. I guess I got lucky :)

    Newby computer, what to get?

Yup I really like having all the info in one place with a glance at my wrist (although I still have my compact SPG as backup), and the info you can download about your dive is cool. Of course it's not essential, you can easily make do without it but if the Smart Air is only €30 more and you...

    Newby computer, what to get?

@Dainius by the way, try this site too Aqualung i200C Blue buy and offers on Scubastore £250 for the i200c plus 5% off if you use ORDERM5 code. They're based in Spain but I've ordered stuff from them, including BC, with no issues. I'm not not if delivery would be quick enough for you're trip to...

    Newby computer, what to get?

The cheapest price for the Smart I saw is on www.Scubaonline.de, based in Germany - €189 plus shipping. I've never ordered anything from them, so can't vouch for them. Otherwise for UK shops there's Deep Blue Dive (£195 for Smart), Mikes dive store, Simply Scuba, etc etc. and even...

    Newby computer, what to get?

if the i200 & i200c are the same price and the Smart more expensive in Sweden then it’s a no brainer, get the i200c as it has Bluetooth. The price you’ve quoted seems to be very good as the cheapest I’ve seen the i200c from a quick internet search is £250. The i200 is around £190 and I’ve seen...

    Newby computer, what to get?

My wife has the AL i200 (not c) and likes it. Simple but has enough functions for recreational holiday diving. You may be able to find a bargain as it's been superseded by the 'c' model. Also, I had a Mares Smart which I was happy with and probably better than the i200 overall. The only reason I...

    Recommendations for Easy Breathing Regs?

Before I bought my own set of regs I rented (recreational warm water diving on holidays). The rentals included AL Calypso on several occasions, which is a standard type of rental reg, as well as some others. I'd never had any issues until I rented a Calypso set out in Bali, which turned out to...

    Recommendations for Easy Breathing Regs?

Without meaning to sound flippant, why didn't you just adjust the breathing resistance on the Apeks instead of buying new regs?

Can I wear a neoprene vest on a rashguard?

Yep, in warm (tropical) water I dive a lavacore vest under a rash guard and O'Neill insulated shorts under board shorts. This has kept me warm down to 26-27 degrees C. Would probably go with a full length wetsuit for anything below that.

    Beginner diving in Maldives

Hi, I haven't visited Maldives yet but from some research there are several local islands accessible from Male by boat transfer. Slower boats obviously being cheaper. However, even with reasonably priced accommodation (watch out for tax add-ons for the hotels & food), you may find the cost of...
