    Hanging a Drysuit, good idea?

I have a DUI dry suit and here is what is printed in the manual DRYSUIT STORAGE Proper storage will extend the life of your drysuit. Store your drysuit in a cool dry place on a wide hanger and the zipper open. The storage area should be free of ozone generators, such as electric or gas...

Pair plead guilty in 2010 Florida Keys dive death case

Small boats can sink in a few seconds if the right conditions exist. We lost one of our liberty boats in Haifa and 21 Sailors drowned. Most of those were trapped below deck. It was pulling up to the fantail and one second it was there, the next it was gone. Talk about a mess. We managed to get...

Question about a 13 year old Halcyon wing -

It should be fine. They don’t have an identified “shelf life” so you usually use them until they fail to hold air. I still use my single and double Halcyon wings and they were made in 2004 and 2009.

trying to form a new team

You do realize that this thread is 15 years old. The OP started that journey a long time ago. I retired from LE PSD in 2013 after 30 years but I am sure SOP/SOGs have changed since then.

Why can't scuba tanks be set up like a firefighter's scba?

If you look at the video of the Australian divers working the recent cocaine and deceased diver incident, they appear to be wearing doubles that are mounted with the manifold facing down. I will see if I can post up a pic... Try this Police investigate mysterious death of diver found near...

Will be getting a dry suit. Is my 7mm semi-dry still worth keeping?

I use both but I prefer a wet suit if I can get away with it. No reason to get rid of the semi unless you know you won't use it, you don't have the space to store it, or you need to sell it and use the money for something else.

What is the fundamental reason that prevents scuba diving from becoming popular?

I shoot out to 2,000 yards but most of the time I keep it between 1,000 - 1,500 yards. The top one is an Accuracy International AX in 6.5 Creedmoor. The second is an Accuracy International AX in .338 Lapua, and the bottom is an EDM Arms Windrunner in 50 cal. EDM was the original receiver maker...

What is the fundamental reason that prevents scuba diving from becoming popular?

That would depend on the style of shooting you are involved with and the type of firearm :) Here are a few of mine and I shoot more than dive these days. I swapped out the Vortex and S&B optics for a Tangent Theta and a ZCO but ELR shooting costs me 10+ times what diving does. While I have great...

    Bonaire Boots

I use a very thin-soled neoprene boot and then I wear (size 12) DUI rock boots over that and they fit nicely inside XXL jet fins.

    Attaching shock cords to Peregrine?

Rol diy, Heat up the end and while it is still hot, press it down onto a flat surface and it will put a better flair on the end. I use the bottom of my lighter and it creates enough of a flair so it won’t pull through. Some shock cord is stiffer than others and the ones that don’t stretch much...

    Finances and Tec Diving

You have other hobbies that are more expensive so when you go diving, you feel like you are saving money :rofl3: These are always tough discussions because you never know what others may consider expensive or what their financial situation might be. All I can say is, survival (mortgage, food...

    Cold Water Diving for Beginners

For me, wet suit/dry suit, depends on water temp, how many dives I plan on doing that day, how long a dive might be, what depth I plan on diving, type of cylinder setup I am using, and condition of area (obstacles/trash to navigate around). Our ocean temp today is 63 degrees so it's not a bad...

    Air integrated computers…backup?

Even Shearwater recommends that you should use a backup SPG in the owner’s manual if you use a transmitter. It’s up for you to decide if a redundant system is worth it or not. If you don’t see the need, no point in trying to convince you otherwise. I prefer to have options if something fails...

The Isolation Manifold, lessons not learned and a small defence of the IUCRR

Why make excuses for others that don't use their equipment properly and blame their shortsightedness on a gear issue. Absolutely nothing wrong with an isolation manifold. If you don't intend to use it properly, then don't use one. I've used mine for decades and never had an issue. Same goes with...

The Isolation Manifold, lessons not learned and a small defence of the IUCRR

It’s not the isolation valve that’s the problem, it’s the diver. If you decide to use an isolation valve, make sure it’s open. It’s really not that difficult or complicated, check the damn valve. If a diver runs out of air ( in the example above), that diver is not only at fault for not making...
