Faber HP 133 for single tank?

I use 130s and mine are about two pounds heavier than a Faber. The downside with Faber is that they go positive when empty. I had several Faber 120s that I used for singles and doubles but sold them off over the years. I find 130s very easy to dive with but that is probably because I have used...

    Instructor vs Solo Cert

The number of breaths depends on the individual and the depth. I carried a HEEDS bottle (spare air) in the military and they are generally designed to supply roughly 30 breaths. There is a difference between sitting at the surface and taking 30 breaths over being in panic mode being pulled down...

    Back mount pony bottle

While the pp02 for that depth would be 1.6 on 32%, it’s not generally utilized as 1.4 has become the NOAA, industry, and military standard. 1.6 is normally reserved as a limit during deco only and not the working phase of a dive. Granted, your dive your call but that change occurred in 2015.

I run the same in my main cylinder and my slung 40, 28% and I am good. If I am going below 130, I will most likely be on doubles with some amount of helium and the 40 with 28% is switched out for a 40 for deco with 100% O2.

    Shoulder joint replacement

I had physical therapy a month before and six months after. I think I waited two weeks or so after surgery. They told me there would be three small incisions but after the surgery I see they added a nice four inch one down the front of the shoulder. You will be fine, just something you have to...

    Shoulder joint replacement

Kind of depends on the amount of repair and how your body responds to the rehab. I have calcific tendinitis with complete cuff tears on both. I had my first surgery in September of 2021. They opened up the shoulder, scraped out the calcifications on the tendons, and removed the end of the collar...

Regulator Technician Training - Summer 2022

I just picked up a basic kit of what I thought I might need based on the info provided before the class. I am sure there are things that may be added or subtracted as I go along but this will get me started. The Scubapro tool, the thin crescent wrench, and the other open end thin wrenches and...

    Back mount pony bottle

Another reason I carry a 40 are the local conditions that can occur while swimming out or trying to get back in. Having a small bailout may work for getting me to the surface but if I need to navigate about 100 yards or more of a heavy surf zone, it won’t be the best option to stay on the...

    Back mount pony bottle

That may depend on the system you use and the one you are most comfortable. While I have doubles for extensive work in shallow water, deeper dives, or deco dives, my single 130 is set up a bit different than most and gives me plenty of redundancy. As I sling a 40, I dive with three first stages...

Ice diver's rope snapped - Cold Stream Pond, Maine

If you had one of these when they came out in the 70s, you thought you really had something. Almost as impressive as owning the black US Divers wet suit with the yellow stripe. I even eventually purchased one of those three-cylinder setups that was enclosed in that plastic case like they used on...

Ice diver's rope snapped - Cold Stream Pond, Maine

Standards, we don’t need no stinking standards:) Farmer John 7mm wet suit and the “new” Scubapro stab jacket, no more horse collar. We didn’t use a harness back then, just tied it into your tank/bc. Most of our ice working dives centered on recovering vehicles that tried to drive across lakes...

Pending changes for certifications required for JDC dives

They also direct those diving outside of the swimming area to use a dive flag. “Every person in the water, outside a designated swimming area, using an underwater breathing device often known as scuba gear, shall display a diver's flag” If I was an instructor out there, I would contact them...

Pending changes for certifications required for JDC dives

A long time ago, our dive team would do deeper dives at hosetooth reservoir outside of Ft. Collins. I see it still allows diving and, depending on water levels, can be around 200 feet deep. Our dives were around 130 feet or so. Surprised local instructors have not worked out a plan for doing...

Shearwater Computers Linked to Same Transmitter

If you don't like the word pairing, take it up with Shearwater. The manual directs the owner to: "Pair the transmitter by going to the Tx Setup menu option, and selecting T1. Turn on T1, then enter 6-digit transmitter serial number into the T1 Serial # setting. You only needed to set this one...

Shearwater Computers Linked to Same Transmitter

The word you are looking for is pairing. OP, that is how I run mine. I use one computer in dive mode and the other is run in gauge mode and both computers are paired to the one transmitter. I also have a SPG as it’s clipped out of the way and ignored for the most part.

Experienced Divers: What are the most common "oh, crap!" situations?

Finding a parking spot close enough to your dive spot so you’re not humping your gear a half a mile. While having a specific issue in the water varies and may not be considered likely, parking at good dive spots is always an issue.
