    Urgent Help Camera Choice.

Sorry I posted the Aquatica press release in the wrong post, but for what its worth, I would still go for the Canon in the Ikelite housing (even if you still have to beg, borrow or steal some lighting for this trip)

Checking in Photo gear with your airline.

In Canada they only offer the health package, it's too bad that there is no equipment insurrance as available in the USA. c'mon DAN, make it happen!

A Few Pictures Taken on a Nikon D7000/Aquatica set up. Great Barrier Reef.

Both have their value, the D90 is more of a commitment financially, the AN-5 does travel ever so lightly, as much as I like the Sony Nex generation, I am still a DSLR boy, I like the control access a lot more on them.

Canon 5D Mark II Video Jellyfish Lake, Palau & Focus Gear Question

Duh!!!, its says 15mm Sigma on the Vimeo site (nice footage bTW), the focus gear is # 18715 and it is accessed via the left hand knob on the housing. manual focus takes some using too. with the Sigma, a lot of shooter will focus on their fins (sort of Hyperfocaling the lens) and then...

Canon 5D Mark II Video Jellyfish Lake, Palau & Focus Gear Question

Rosh, what lens are you using, there are two ways to access the manual focus (depending of the lens used) on prime wide angle lens, you use the knob on the housing, for the Canon 16-35mm and 17-40mm there are special extension rings with a knob for focusing on their side, this meshes with a gear...

Canon 5D II vs 7D for underwater photography & Cinematography

I swing my vote for the 5D Mk II, every TV show and documentary cameraman we supply uses the 5D Mk II and none that I know off would go for the 7D, nothing personal against the 7D, I happen to think it’s the best cropped sensor DSLR Canon ever made. But pro quality video is the 5D Mk II...

    Aquatica or Nauticam for T2i/550D

Anybody that slam's you for being a novice has a short memory span, we where all novice at one point and all of us had our "questions" about the gears! the reference to the 70-300mm has more to do with being satisfied with the Tamron brand (rightly so BTW) than an actual recommendations of lens...

    Aquatica or Nauticam for T2i/550D

We have adapter to accept Subal (type III) and Sea & Sea ports and I will second Bill's opinion about the kit lens, its a "sitting between two chairs" lens, either go wide or macro but the in between is exactly that... in between. I do like the 60mm from Canon with the APS sensor camera. and...

Your fav macro lens(es) for D300s?

Longer lens will give you longer working distance, but not bigger subject, but with a 105mm you can adapt a wet diopter sush as the Subsee or the Macromate and gain substantially in magnification, the advanage here is in the working distance, with a 60mm you would be so much on top of the...

    dSLR Upgrade Decisions

Of all the lens you listed, the 17-40mm is the only one useful underwater and indeed, it is kind of a bummer to loose the FOV on the crop sensor. The 5D Mk II is quite a performer and yes it will be replaced eventually, but that does not make it a lesser camera, it has become quite the...
