    Submarine wreck from 1800's????

The story of the Hunley is also on tape, which I enjoyed immensely. It seems that they tried this underwater experiement several times before the final model. In fact, the one recently excavated was sunk at least once before, killing most but not all of the crew. It was a Confederate sub, & a...

    Seems like a waste

By the time they hit the bottom, what will be left of them? Is there a place we can write?

    Underwater Music Festival

I love that concept; so the trumpet fish was jamming with the guitar fish & the giant sea bass, eh? I'll bet the fish were dancing; I have noticed all of my pets respond to different types of music (the cutest was a very wild brown iguana who mellowed out to John Denver.) Gosh, we Californians...

    Are Americans Mad?

Living in California, I agree with Capnvik; living in dismay, I agree with Raviepoo. These are scary times.

    Non diving scary moments

But first, he must go to a pet psychic to see if he is spiritually fit to live with a passive-aggressive tortoise, 3 iguanas with sibling rivalry issues, a disabled elderly chicken and her vain young tormentors, 2 lizards in an inter-species relationship, and 8 overpriviledged pigeons, one who...

    Buying a reg online

...but wanted to point out, if you do not already know, that you will have to add your octo pus & console to the reg (usually sold as a first & second stage already hooked up.) I would not agree with what the afore mentioned diver did: showing up on the boat with the stuff still in the...

    Reliability of Magazine Equipment reviews?

One thing that most reviews can't tell you is what will work for your body in your environment. Even on this board, consider the location of the people you are taking advice from. For example, you are from New Jersey. If you are going to dive only in the tropics, by all means listen to the...

    Cheap torch

My main torch is the PrincetonTec Tec 400. They work OK at night, if that ever comes up, but mostly I use them in low viz day situations. I have others for back-up, mostly lights I have found in the briny deep, but these are the ones I actually pay for.

Liburdi Dive center review (Southern California)

If I have the need for dive supplies & am in that area, I will surely head straight for Liburdi's fine shop. I just have to see the salt water pool. The only time I have tried one was when I was in the Cayman Islands at our hotel. Yes, you have a point about regional info needing its own...

    New here

That's a delightful story. I can't think of a better reason to get back into diving than to share the sport with your sons. I would love to hear more about the Underwater Council of Sask & your friend, Ron. Sounds like you have a piece of underwater history that others would enjoy hearing...

    Monterey Bay Diving

If you have time to go to Casino Point in Catalina, you are guaranteed to see your golden fish. They like frozen peas. Don't know for sure if they hang out in San Diego, but I don't know why they wouldn't. I see them a lot in Laguna, too. I hope to do the Yukon sometime this year, too...

    Monterey Bay Diving

That image of the seal pooping you will stick in my mind forever! Well, that was a great summary of the varieties of shore diving available to divers of your region. We surely have our share of beaches that are not diveable year-round. I adore kelp. I know that it can freak out some...

    Seattle diving?

from the shore? Oh, heaven! Have you read my recent posts about being pounded into a chili paste by waves onto rocks? That is actually of greater value to me than warm water. I think I need to make plans for a trip.

    Trip Report

That's the kind of family diving everyone dreams of. Sounds like your son is a good buddy. He's lucky to have a dad-buddy like you to share this memory with. If you can load up the photos, we would all like to see what you guys saw! Thanks for sharing.

    Water Aeribics?

N-ooo, I just frequent the lovely county & city Park District pools, where, for a mere $1.25 per session, I can swim in indoor or outdoor or indoor-outdoor pools. Most cities (even small ones) have at least a couple of these. They tend to be deeper & cleaner than the pools I see...

    Wow!!!!!!

France is good enough for me! Perhaps you could arrange a diving party for us Americans, Amanda! Welcome, Julie! I'm a bit jealous, too; wouldn't mind getting in some Florida diving this year. May have to wait. Or should I just let the strong currents out here just blow me over to your side?

Isn't Labor Day the start of Hurricane season? Check that out before you decide which destination - some are more protected from the open sea (that would include the Caymans.) We liked Bob Soto's Diving on Grand Cayman. They have an annual "Cayman Madness" special that may be worth looking into.

    Water Aeribics?

Dea, (Sorry to interrupt the dialogue), but I am a "fool for the Pool." Here's what I do: show up at the public pool with the mask, fins & snorkel & just put on the booties on the edge of the pool (for some reason, every time I have asked for permission, I get some odd arbitrary...
