Cynicism by definition is negative :)
However I don't mean to be negative. I want to help, I would love to somehow make a career in diving and marine studies. But I was never smart enough in school and never knew I wanted to do it until I started diving and became fascinated by the ocean world...
Great video. I am going there in October (amongst other places along the coast), hoping to see some Grey Nurse Sharks as well. You have me so excited.

I went diving on the weekend at Flinders Pier in Victoria. It was a shore dive and part of my Nitrox course (which I passed yay)...
Ahh so that's the difference in the filters.
I've been diving with no filter, just getting used to using the camera and it comes out pretty good but I will look into the filters.
I was browsing the various courses that PADI offer and see ones like the National Geographic Diver, AWARE - Fish Identification, AWARE - Coral Reef, Project AWARE etc.
Now they sound cool and interesting but surely they don't hold any real benefit that you couldn't learn on your own? I mean...
Did the test last night and passed with 100%
Don't think I've done that since Grade 4, lol.
My dive is on Saturday which will be fun and then I will get my card.

I'm sorry but what part of my original posts says I am avoiding anything?
I asked if there was a test (since I wasn't sure and the book didn't indicate it) and if the information for the Dive Table was required for the test. Not once did I say I didn't want to learn it, I actually said I would...
I agree that it is a necessity to learn and know which is what I am doing, I was just wondering if they would appear in the testing for the Enriched Air Divers Course.
Currently in the middle of learning my EANx PADI course. I got the pack with the manual and the second book which is the Oxygen Exposure Table instructions.
My question is two fold, first is, do I have to study/learn the second booklet? I plan on reading it but need to know if I should prepare...

Astounding that this happened. Personally, unless she was taken by a shark, I wouldn't be surprised if there is not more to it.
Hopefully she is found safe and sound.
Where did you dive?
Were you near the incident that happened at Bellarine?
Nice photos too, what kind of camera do you use? I'm looking to get into photography but at the moment I just video my dives.
That is the exact place we were looking to dive.
Trip has been booked so all I have to do is organise the dive trips with the various companies.
Probably won't get to Byron, might see if there is some good diving in Coffs Harbour though.
I think what I will do is enroll for the course as my dive shop has a special on it where I can save money. I have until March next year to do it (I believe) so I will sign up and go over the material and then do the course when I am ready to go closer to summer.
Thanks for the replies, it's nice to get different perspectives on the course.
I thought my number of dives was a concern but there isn't (as far as I know) a limit on dives you must have to do it so I guess it's a case-by-case basis on experience and how you are as a diver.
As far as I...
Hello, me again.
I am doing my PADI Rescue Diver course soon and I was wondering if those who have done it before could pass on some advice on what to expect and how to prepare for it?
I haven't gotten the reading material or anything yet but I am doing a little research on the subject and see...
