Question about burst disks on doubles manifold

Bursting disks can be the pits. Its one of those things I check after servicing a valve as they can have a tiny leak which is enough to dump a full cylinder over time. Also I make sure I seat the valve seat by turning it on off a few times. Got caught once after servicing a valve and lost most...

    Old air in tanks.

So what is best for? How does one determine with accuracy the best before date? I have a cylinder of oxygen, whats its best before date?

    Old air in tanks.

O2 first then air, and yes PP either direct from cylinder or pumped. Only had it a few times where the 50Nx was 80 until mixed, I find it hard to get my head around the fact that it layers as looking at it simplistically one would expect a fair mix as the air rushes in after the O2 is put in...

    Old air in tanks.

Maybe when yours was filled it hadnt mixed properly prior to first measurement. I have had 50Nx read 80 until I roll them and 80Nx read 50. I still dont understand how it happens and its not just a bit trapped in the valve that causes it as I have also blown through the valve before measuring. I...

    Old air in tanks.

If it did kill tanks we would all have dead tanks in OZ seeing we cycle all our tanks by their test pressure yearly. Not that I think doing that is a good thing, personally I think the less you significantly cycle tanks to their test pressure (overpressurise by a significant amount) the better...

OPV plug failed open at 120psi

Yes I agree a Poseidon/xstream can cause problems, and yes normal implys downstream, I should have said that, however the majority of secondary regs are downstream (I believe), but I take your point. Everyone is taught or should be taught on how to deal with an uncontrolled dry suit inflation...

OPV plug failed open at 120psi

I dont see the need for them on a normal reg set. If the IP increases then the secondary regulators will free flow thus acting like an OPV. That being a primary cause of free flowing secondary regulators. Thus an OPV just becomes another piece of gear that can fail. I like the KISS theory (Keep...
