DCI and the perils of diving in a mixed EAN/Air Group

Alan, for what its worth, my opinion. I also use 2 computers, but both run the same algorythim. Now if I set them differently due to error, I always use the most conservative unless an emergency forces me to surface. I think your real mistake was not to do deco time on the conservative one...

How long passed from the time of your decent until you hit the surface first time?

Accidental DECO and mild panic in a non tech certified diver.

I have been to 2.2 during an incident, but wouldnt suggest for a second that its ok. We dealt with it and got sorted and went back to back gas. All good on THAT occassion. It shows no one figure is right or wrong, just a guideline on what we think is ok. I try and maintain 1.6 or less always...

Accidental DECO and mild panic in a non tech certified diver.

I have often seen divers with significant number of dives, who do not understand their computer and chose not to research it so they can. It seems they are happy to use it as a depth gauge and little more. On being questioned, they usually respond with "I have no interest in learning any more...

    Equipment repair tech?

Yes I have done the hydro/inspection, blending and scuba tech course and I would recommend them. Steve Burton is one very smart guy and knows his stuff. Lots of practical examples and very clear instruction.

Scuba incident/accident/Rescue via USCG Florida Middle Grounds 08/16/2018

For all the armchair experts I have experienced this exact failure. The time from 32m to the surface is 50 seconds. What most people forget is they practice this and say "its simple, only a few seconds to disconnect etc etc......" Well the first thing to allow for is recognition time, its not...

    Questions About Truk

Often the person in question has a PFO and doesnt realise it. Of the people I dive with, of 5 that have been bent, 4 had either minor to major PFO problems. The statistics show that 1 in 4 people have a PFO of some description, and nearly all dont realise it and show no symptoms UNLESS they...

    Rebreather or not?

I stand corrected, must have missed it first time. Thats what happens when you read stuff at 3 am while at work

    Rebreather or not?

Ok so how have I gone with my CCR experience? Well I sure have had an interesting time (read a number off issues). In the main due to a previously poorly maintained CCR unit combined with inexperience due to just starting to use it. Issues During the course I had multiple electronic faults, to...

    Rebreather or not?

Garath, Also there is the mushroom valves in the mouthpiece (2 off one each side to ensure the flow through the mouthpiece to ensure one way flow) that can fail and cause a CO2 hit. When I bought my breather, I found that both the mushroom valves were totally RS and had to be replaced. How the...
