Did the Humbolt Explorer and had a great time. Maybe not the "Four Seasons" of liveaboards but it was pretty good and the crew was professional and worked hard to make sure everyone was happy.
I have dived both from a cruise ship and if I had to pick one I would go for Grand Turk. Better all around dives and close to the cruise ship terminal. Also don't think there is much else to do there. That being said, I also enjoyed diving St Thomas.
I wanted to share a great experience we had while visiting Montserrat on a cruise ship. We arranged two shore dives with Montserrat Island Dive Center and were very pleased. Jay and Tommy were waiting at the dock as soon as our tender got to shore and we took off right away. Both guys are...
Cheapest sp back inflate is the litehawk @$410. It is not discontinued. They have changed models and the old one is on leisure pro for $250
I will buy that the DSS is the best performing bp/w as well as being one of the least expensive. I just think to characterize jackets as being a $800...
Is it valid to compare reasonably priced bp/w and a black inflates with the top of the line SP jacket BCD?
I see the advantages of bp/w but initial cost isn't one of them
My perspective is this: I have had formal training and that training was professional and effective. I have taken enough classes to make me a safe and responsible recreational diver. I probably will not take more formal training but that does not mean I am finished learning. I want to improve...
We were blown out on Blackbeards by Matthew and have rescheduled for April. It will be our 3 rd time. I always go into it with some doubts because of the crowded boat but have had a great time both times.
Also hope the reefs faired well, let know how it goes for you.
I agree with Stuart that you may be over thinking it and I can relate to paralysis by analysis I am the same way.
I really don't think a 30 or 35# wing would be as bad as some folks say. I see 3 choices.
1. Bp/w with a 35 and live with it
2. Smaller wing for travel and rent if you need to...
I am not invested in what you chose, whatever works for you.
you look at the hydos without the weight pouches it is a pretty simple design, back inflate with trim pouches that puts weight between your lungs and tank, with simple straps. Not sure what big advantages bp/w has other than the...
Strangely enough I kinda agree with Neil.
I don't have issues with my lift and have great flexibility in what I can do. I guess what is strange to that side of the fence is that I do not have all the so called annoyances they think I do.
I do wonder what the best compromise would be for 3-7 ml...
Ok, so is a dry suit in your future? How about buying a 7 ml? If so, would a wing be ok with both?
Besides Galapagos where would you travel to use a 7?
Using a lavacore or sharkskin under a 5 ml would probably work instead of a 7 with no added buoyancy and gives exp protection flexibility...
Galapagos operators say a minimum of 5 ml and hood. Depends on your cold tolerance. UK diving is a different thing. Hope you find something that works for all you want to do.
So why was this info not posted when someone says they want "A" bp/w for warm and cold water and why is the cost of $500 quoted when it is more like $800. Do they need to go with a larger bladder for a 3_7 ML suit or do they need 2 bladders? Just asking
