Is the severity of narcosis greater when diving cold water?

Depends, narked I could keep track of air, depth, and time. When I couldn't, I'd head up. Now the objective of the dive was further down the list, and was sometimes lost along the way.

Is the severity of narcosis greater when diving cold water?

All of them. There is a lot of information, and misinformation, available for those that are interested.

Is the severity of narcosis greater when diving cold water?

The symptoms can be identical. My first hypothermia rescue was only because they acted narked, so I assisted them shallower. Now I was confused because we weren't deep to start with, and even shallow the symptoms remained, so I got them up and out of the water as fast as practical, to find...

    Chasing Wing Leaks

Could be a crack, or the gasket is shot. I'd get it underwater and see exactly where it's coming from.

SCUBA shop that will issue be an AOW card after a few days diving?

Don't get me started on "non-profit" organizations. It isn't that they can't make money, it's how they do it, thats why accountants and tax lawyers prosper.

SCUBA shop that will issue be an AOW card after a few days diving?

Depends: PADI yes SSI no NAUI no, but it is considered technical diving and has a diffrent path. So I would check the Agency for their actual requirements.

SCUBA shop that will issue be an AOW card after a few days diving?

NAUI has always been a non-profit organization.

SCUBA shop that will issue be an AOW card after a few days diving?

And yet both RSTC and ISO standards require that an OW Diver is trained to be an autonomous Diver before they are given the certification. Is someone allowing the scuba agencies to ignore the standards?

Two tank Straps for BCD? Why not?

It could be as simple as replacing the cam strap with a good one. I replaced the strap on my jacket with one like the ones on my BP/W. It seems the original composit band did not have as aggressive cam than the metal one on my other rig, and lacked any significant leverage. That's one reason...

    Timing of Dives

DCS is more about planing, narcosis is there whether one "feels" it or not. The reason narcosis is an issue, is that one will not notice any impairment until one needs to use their higher brain functions, say to respond to an emergency. One reason muscle memory, and training to automatically...

    A Rigid Buoyancy Devise ?

Submarines use free flooding ballast tanks, which have to kept in a certain trim (pitch and roll) in order to keep the air bubble in the tank, if the air bubble escapes it loses buoyancy and sinks. If you put a bladder in the tank to avoid that, might as well use a BC or lift bag, and avoid the...

Conception Captain Found Guilty of Manslaughter

Whether the outcome would have been any different is conjecture, however it is unknown because the mandatory proper training and procedures were not followed. Unfortunately, the escape exit was proper, according to the USCG. And both were separated by a wall that was destroyed in the fire.

Vessel French divers rescued after boat escapes - Thailand

Especially when one is too optimistic. I have left mine unattended, but I wouldn't do that with a rented boat, too many unknowns.

    Guess the PSI

I still dive SPGs from the '70's that are less accurate than his, at the low end. They are pretty accurate once one isn't at the low end, so they work fine for me.

Equipment Gas toxicity blamed for Chinese fatality - Batangas, Philipines

Reporters conflating air and oxygen as tank gas is nothing new, oxygen toxicity could easily be bad air. This would give me reason to question it.

    Guess the PSI

We called them post, or pillar, valves, however it may have been local usage back in the day. All the ones I've seen are the old 1/2" pipe thread.

    Guess the PSI

600 psi is clearly marked, well above the black square. Without taking calipers to the picture, I'd guess the top of the black square is 300 psi, or less.

The black square is there to tell you it may be empty, it was.
