Claims made about ascending vertical vs horizontal

They should get that info to the NEDU before someone gets hurt.

    Question for steel tank aficionados

Depends on which tanks. Between my HP 100 and MP 120, I really need to drop that 6#, to make the walk to the water if nothing else. I'm not a fan of 8" tanks, they make me feel top heavy. I picked up an LP 95 cheap, and used it down south on boat dives, i always got a healthy fill.

Discuss: Safe to change inflator schrader valve fitting to high flow Air2/SS1 type fitting?

:rofl3: :rofl3: :rofl3: :rofl3: Ya gave me a flashback buddy, I was laughing so hard my wife asked WTF is wrong with you, not that I don't get that a lot anyway. I was cleaning mud out of gear for weeks.

Why is becoming a DM considered not worth it?

What are they paying, and what are the hours? That's the usual problem with finding help, you don't pay enough for what you want done, or there are not enough hours to make it worthwhile, or both. DM candidates are just free labor, and no one else will work for free, or close to it.

Why is becoming a DM considered not worth it?

Here is the issue, most proffessional liability insurance policies are claims-made, in other words, when a claim is made the insurance has to be in force to have coverage. Say you are in California and a student dies while at at an event your shop held, even though you may not be directly...

Is the severity of narcosis greater when diving cold water?

It dosent acclimatize as in make one used to it, and able to lessen its effects. However, there are ways to mitigate the issues, by understanding how narked one is, and leave the depth if the effects are above your limit. I was mentored by a diver that died of old age, and it looks like I...

Is the severity of narcosis greater when diving cold water?

Experience will teach you to focus on needed tasks, instead of the one you are doing, as your focus narrowes. Ones ability to task load while narked is quite low, and one should head up, before it is nonexistent.

Is the Deep cert really necessary?

You need AOW to take Rescue with PADI, to take SSI Rescue (called Stress and Rescue) there are no prerequisites, except OW.

Is the Deep cert really necessary?

When I finally certified in 1980 the rec limit was 130', however the PADI tables go to 140' because if you inadvertently go below 130', you have to have a way to calculate your nitrogen exposure. When I first learned, there was no rec limit, but, since it was NDL diving, the limit was 190'...

Is the severity of narcosis greater when diving cold water?

I've never done helium, but I do know there is a difference. I thank my mentor, as I am old and still here, while others of the same era will be forever young.

Is the severity of narcosis greater when diving cold water?

That, in itself, does not mean you are not narked. I've been diving deep air since the '60's, and although most dives went according to plan, I never once figured I was not narked. Narcosis narrowes ones focus, and suppresses ones higher brain functions, some have a better tolerance but it...

Is certification necessary for shallow water diving?

"The New Science if Skin and Scuba Diving" was how my old man learned, and he was my instructor, with a handful of dives. Due to gear constraints, we were only in the water together to practice buddy breathing. I kept diving he quit when he saw what he wanted. The same material was covered 17...

Is certification necessary for shallow water diving?

The published standards are high enough, Standards Downloads - WRSTC , but there is no quality control in place to insure instructors actually follow those standards. Students have no idea what they should be taught, it's hard for then to make a judgment and complain, so nothing happens until...

Not needing air for buoyancy control ?

Which would mean dumping a little air, not adding it. If he started neutral on the surface, with no wetsuit, it can be done without issue. This is how I dove when I first learned, because the BC was yet to used in recreational diving. With a 7mm farmer John for the cold water here, I'm...

A minion would be the human version of a bot then?

Is the severity of narcosis greater when diving cold water?

Could be either. It depends on the size of the breath, not the frequency.

Is the severity of narcosis greater when diving cold water?

Divers that do deep air have their ways, most divers don't. Mine is always the same also, my consumption is nothing to brag about, but I breathe to avoid CO2 hits, and I have.

Is the severity of narcosis greater when diving cold water?

Not lucky, you probably think narcosis doesn't affect you at that depth, because you never felt a thing. No one ever feels a thing untill one has to think, and finds out they are not up to the task, that's where training and muscle memory can save the day. When most divers feel narcosis it's...
