Was it at San Carlos Beach? I don't think we are discussing the same thing.
EDIT: You were exactly correct. I see the latest story and indeed you were right. Thank you for your contribution. I am sorry I doubted you.
Placer County deputy identified as diver who died in Monterey
How do you have this information? Your comment seems out of left field. Is that who really passed on Saturday? This man seemed overweight and older. Not built like a Sheriff's Dept dive team member.
I know you are 100% correct. It was just difficult for me and the other Instructors and Divemasters to not dive in and do something. You are totally right and we respected that. We just wanted to help.
Bottom line. Yesterday sucked. :'(
Thank you for that post. I feel better. It was so painful that they were not letting the professionals into the water to search.
OK. Now I'm crying again.
I wish I could have done something.
It was, and still is, a difficult experience. I don't know what is bothering me more. What I witnessed or the fact that I was not in the water looking for him. The latter is weighing the heaviest. I wish I was part of the rescue/recovery team.
You are absolutely correct. The instructor and I let the students know that if they have any sort of issues, concerns, questions, sadness, etc about what happened yesterday to please reach out to us. They were all very happy and excited today, but the stress of yesterday might not truly hit them...
Thank you Sam. Coming from you that means a lot. I take my new and growing diving career extremely seriously. The students mean the world to me and their safety, education, and happiness are so important to me. Yesterday, being strong, was me looking out for their happiness because, to be...
Yes, because I was sad and crying when I posted it and just had to walk away from the computer. I added details later in the Accidents and Incidents thread about it.

Today at the Breakwater the water was a warm 61F but the visibility was a fuzzy 8 feet at best.
It was also a tragic day at the Breakwater. Look for the news. :(
Yes, Big Sur is beautiful. Also, I absolutely love diving off of Vision. The crew does a great job and food just doesn't stop coming.
Nice post. Thanks for sharing.
This link seems to work for me
Athens police try to ID woman with stolen scuba gear
(EDIT) A 52-year-old Deltona, Fla., man reported he left his equipment with a friend, who dropped the items off at the back door of the business at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
This guy's friend is such a jerk. Why...
Parts of this story make absolutely no sense to me.
While gearing up, Ozburn’s elbow hit the inflator hose, letting air into his buoyancy compensator, a control device worn to maintain neutral buoyancy. Not thinking anything of it, he descended into the water but quickly realized the excess air...
