    Red Sea Wildlife Report

Ah a friend of mine saw a couple of sailfish in Ras Mo the other day... Shark Observatory to be precise.. awesome! Am loving the news about the tiger shark. I have heard a few rumours about that one but none confirmed. And great news that a black tip has been spotted back on Shark and Yolande...

    Red Sea Wildlife Report

Yay! Great stuff... we too got to see them a few weeks ago... not as many sightings as normal, but still a huge improvement on last year eh?

    CDWS dissolved...?

I have a feeling macrobubble's reply here is actually in response to yet another post from a certain person up in Alexandria now calling himself cool2... It appears the moderators have deleted the original post.. probably because it is a pack of lies.

Thoughts on the future of Sharm

With you on that one Crowley... I'm not ready to leave just yet. And the fishing line between Anenome City and Shark Observatory is indeed awful. I saw it there last summer and there was so much, that I didn't know where to start... I could have spent hours gathering up line. Apparently it is...

    CDWS dissolved...?

Crowley, you are correct, there is at least one, possibly two shiny new moorings on Temple. Unfortunately one is slightly further away from the pinnacles than the older one, but at least it is there. I was in the Gardens the other day and sadly still no new moorings have been added. Let's hope...

    CDWS dissolved...?

I'm with macrobubble on this one, if it is genuine philanthropy then that is great. Let's hope it is not an underhand way to gain power in the area. Oooh have I been seeing too much corruption in this world lately? Anyway I shall watch this space and add more if I hear good news. As for the...

Sharm el Sheikh - a returning visitor's perspective / comments

Valid points... I will say that if you check out your dive centre ahead of time and book ahead of time, on-line, you will often be able to get a very good discount.

    CDWS dissolved...?

    Unbelievable... :(

    CDWS dissolved...?

So depressing... my hubbie had to stop someone from hacking out a clam from the reef with a knife they had brought from the restaurant. If someone doesn't act soon we are going to have about twenty years' worth of destruction happen within a couple of months... really, really frustrating.

    Tiran bridge?

With regards to the rig, with it sitting within sight of Shark and Yolande Reefs and in light of recent oil spillages in the Gulf of Mexico, this could be a disaster waiting to happen too :( Will people never learn? I guess the lure of black gold is far stronger than any little eco-system...

    Tiran bridge?

This would be sad news indeed. I think you might be right Crowley, if they used the glorious reefs of Tiran as stepping stones into which they could plant the supports of a bridge, I guess this is something that could be done, but it truly doesn't bear thinking about. :( Although, and I really...

    CDWS dissolved...?

The whole situation is a bit of a mare really. We found that with the hotels near our house reef, the threat of reporting behaviour to the CDWS was enough to encourage them to stop the feeding, reef-walking etc. Now they don't even bother leaving anyone on the beach supervising anything. It is...

back from a trip to Dahab

I would imagine that your pickies are being automatically reduced by the site, as String said, to enable the page to load fast even for those with slower connections. They are great pics tho. It sounds like you had a lovely week, all good news :D

    CDWS dissolved...?

Ah that would explain why I was asked for my passport the other day on the boat rather than my CDWS card. As I said before, people at our dive centre went to El Tor the other day and are renewed for another six months, taking them beyond September. Without the CDWS, we now have no power to...

    tornado marine fleet?

I am sure you will have a fantastic time. The diving alone should keep you entertained, and as has already been mentioned, I am sure you will find yourself sharing the boat with a collection of like-minded folk. Very occasionally there turns out to be one or two people who may not quite dance...

    CDWS dissolved...?

Just to let you know that it is still possible to renew your work permits. Hubbie and friends went to El Tor the other day and were able to renew their work permits beyond September. Rumours have been flying around that no one will be able to stay beyond that date, so this is a smidge of good...

    Baggage fees.. Tightening the Screws

Some airlines will give you an extra 5kg if you have your diver certification card with you, and every little helps. If you are using Easy Jet for any of your flights, you can also book a sports bag for about £20, and this will allow you a 12kg separate bag of sports gear, which is also a...

    Crowley's Blog

A proper check dive involves a quick skills review, so you are paying for an instructor to take you (often on a one to one basis, or at the very least in a very small group) to one side, brief the skills, ensuring you have remembered how to set your kit up, and then take you in the water...

    Red Sea Wildlife Report

Yes, I use the following for Sharm local dives: Windfinder - Wind & weather forecast Sharm El Sheikh I use the same site, but Nabq area for Tiran and El-Tor for Thistlegorm. It has been proved accurate on many occasions, especially when forecasting bad weather. The only thing it cannot...

Yay!! I was hoping that would be the case... It looks like we are diving the same areas.. I was in Tiran today as well... and we too were hoping to head around the back of Jackson, but sadly the swell had other ideas :( Hey Ho. Let's see what Ras Mo holds out for tomorrow...
