    Elastomeric Bands

Hi Jason, OMS has offered the elastomeric bands on their wings since they have been in business, so they are not a new thing. As a matter of fact, they are one of OMSs trade marks so to speak. You will find that DIR divers will tell you to forget them while at the same time, you will see...

"The Chairman": Whites Fusion now in a new bigger size...

Hi NetDoc, Sounds similar to the suit they had me try on. I'm 5' 10", 56 inch waist and weigh about 310. It was the first stock suit that has ever fit me. Thanks to you, they now have a suit for us "real men"! :D Looking forward to getting my own. Take care, George

My New Drysuit is a Trash Bag and Pantyhose

Hi NetDoc, I think your wait is over. During DEMA I tried on one of their suits. I'm 5' 10", have a 54" waist and weigh 310 lbs. I fit into their largest suit very comfortably, and it fit like a glove. It is the first stock drysuit I have ever been able to fit into. You should really check...

    Octo vs AirII

While the main method of alternate air sharing I teach is to donate a long hose primary, I also make sure they are not only familiar with an alternate air inflator (air II, oct Z etc), but with RH and LH octopus also. I do this because they will quite probably run into these systems after they...

    $400 for personal equipment?

It all depends on the brand/quality of the basic equipment package. We can outfit a student with a low end package for < $100.00 all the way up to high end of $ 2000.00 On the average, the price is < $200 for a good quality set of equipment. Take care, George

    Hey, new guy here...

Balmy, heck it's down right tropical seeming now. :rofl3: My front yard lake has a thin sheet of ice almost 3/4 of the way across it. Guess it's time to put away the 3mm shorty and get out the 5mm one. :shocked2: Take care, George

Very dangerous experience - advice please!

Hello everyone! I know I'm getting in on this one very late, but I'm very interested in finding out what happens to this psychotic animal passing himself as an instructor. He may have the cert card that says he is, but he is definitely no instructor - PERIOD. Tutifruti, thank you and your BF for...

    Goodbye ponies

There can be a million arguments for or against having a pony. The thought here is that if you aren't sure of which way to go, always go to the side of caution. I've never heard of anyone who carried a pony getting hurt because of it. I always teach my students about redundancy from day 1 of...

Enriched Air v. Advanced Open Water Certifications

If you have to choose between the two, then get AOW first then nitrox. However both courses can be combined. If that option is available to you and within your budget, then go for that. Take care, George

    PADI Dry Suit Class

I agree totally. However at this time, the standards for recreational diving are to use the D/S for buoyancy and the BCD on the surface only. The reason as stated before is that the diver only has to monitor one piece of equipment, especially when ascending. The subject of keeping just enough...

    PrimeScuba?

Grey Market simply means that a retailer is obtaining equipment from sources other than the manufacturer. Because of this, the retailer cannot offer a full manufacturer's warranty. In most cases, said retailer will offer their own "in house" warranty. This is fine unless you are not in a...

Dumbing down of scuba certification courses (PADI) - what have we missed?

Hi Everyone, One of the interesting things I came away with from this year's DEMA from taking Instructor's Risk Management Seminars is that the insurance companies do have all the statistics as to how many injuries/fatalities there are, and what training agencies were involved. The problem...
