DiveTek, Kona. Last I checked they were not doing charters (fall, 2008), but I hope they may yet do so in the future.

    Dive Boat Photo Reference

King Neptune, Catalina Island (Avalon), California. For my part, my photo posts should not be taken as plugs, hence no commentary on my part. You of course are welcome to post, hopefully modest, plugs if that's what (you knew this was coming)...floats your boat!

    Dive Boat Photo Reference

Well, I guess I'm not getting a lot of interest in the thread, but I'll plug away with the few more photos I can find in my library. I'm still hoping others will post some of their own photos to join me and RoatanMan. After all, I know what these boats look like. I'd love to see some other...

    Dive Boat Photo Reference

I'm starting this thread to serve as a photographic list of dive boats that people can reference when considering dive ops. There are a few sites for California and Florida boats, but I wanted a place that people could post pics of commercial operators with whom they've dived, to allow others...

Any recent info on this operator?

Does anyone have any first hand info on "Dive Kauai"? I see plenty of posts on Bubbles Below, Seasport, Fathom Five, etc but haven't seen anything current. Looking for a dive boat operator in late January, to supplement some shore diving down south. Thanks, Slingshot

    World's Best First Aid kit

Contents should depend on availability of trained responders and proximity to advanced medical care. Among the available but less conventional things I would consider, which by the way is strictly a personal consideration not advice: A hemostatic agent such as Chitosan. A good...

Top Dives on the Big Island

I'm scared of those kind of "cat fish" Grizz. Ever since I saw a full grown turtle with a bite out of it the size of half a manhole cover...

    Dive Tek Kona

Just realized my photo album online has a turtle cleaning station picture from my last dive day with Wanna Dive, and a picture of Collin from a day with Dive Tek.

    Dive Tek Kona

Thanks Justleesa, Steve. Dive Tek was a nice outfit, I'll be sad to see them go. Hope things are well with you Steve, I'd love to check out the changes to your boat. Say hi to Bob for me.

    Dive Tek Kona

Has anyone been out with the Dive Tek guys lately? I haven't been able to reach Keith on the cell, and my email has gone unanswered. Nice outfit, hope they are still doing charters! First post in a long while... Slingshot

    Kudos to Carter Lift Bags

Just wanted to thank James Carter of Carter Lift Bags for his support of his products, in this case a personal float SMB. When the oral inflation valve on one of my two floats started leaking (okay, one is my wife's, but it was my bag needing a fix) he sent a new one in the mail right away...

    Today at Jody's

Nice little frogfish. I spent a week diving in Kona last year around this time, searching for a frogfish. Last dive of the trip one of the DMs finds a little guy just like yours, about 3cm long, made my week.

    Botflies, anyone?

I have heard of human infestations with botflies, but I don't think this occurs in the US (hopefully not here in Nor Cal). I recall a biologist friend saying it was a mark of distinction among entomologists to hatch your own botfly. From your own flesh.

    Galapagos sea lion massacre

Galapagos national park officials have announced 53 sea lions including 13 pups have been found dead with their skulls crushed. Really very sad news. I can't help but think this must be related to perceived competition on the part of fishermen.
