    GoPro Hero 2 dive housing

I have a GoPro Hero 2 which I use all the time with the GoPro dive housing flat lens. The housing has started to leak, not sure where the leak is coming from. I dove the housing last night (no camera) and there is water in it. 100ft dive. I have been looking for a new dive housing with the...

How bad is it if an LDS calls you an “internet diver”?

Mike, I don’t disagree with you on the types of customers, in my company we routinely refuse to do sell to companies (for various reasons) who are not worth the time. I’m not sure about respect and understanding (as you described above) as a driver. I think it boils down to value for...

How bad is it if an LDS calls you an “internet diver”?

I completely disagree, shop everywhere: internet, big box stores, LDS, craigslist, ebay...and get the best bang for your buck. If that means trying on a wetsuit at an LDS and then buying it online - so be it.

    secure your gear

seems like over kill but to each his own. In my experience here in SoCal, when I come up reg comes out and is clipped off and mask comes off. I can't imagine doing the surface swim to/from the anchor line or shore with my reg in and mask on.

    Scalding hot tanks

The shop where I get my LP 95s filled does a great job. They fill fast and hot, hours later sitting in my garage the tanks always cool down to the service pressure or slightly above. For my tanks a hot fill to about 3000 works pretty well. Don't make this harder than it needs to be.

    refusing an instabuddy

    1) I think the horror stories are way over blown - don't worry about it 2) Just tell the DM or the buddy you don't think this is a good match 3) there is no legal obligation between instabuddies 4) as a brand new diver (trust me, you are very easy to spot) you are the one people are tying to...

What's your best local dive shop like?

I've heard of this but I thought it was urban legend. This is probably the most awesome thing I've ever seen. Do you know the prices? NITROX?

What's your best local dive shop like?

We have quite a few shops here in San Diego and most are pretty good - competition makes a big difference. - I really don't like sales pressure - good air fills, meaning at the service pressure or a bit more - reliable and fast repair and service (regardless of where I bought it) since the...

    *Really* New Diver Practice Routines

..... ---------- Post added June 24th, 2014 at 09:03 AM ---------- The biggest impediment (IMO) to continued diving beyond certification is finding a buddy. Hooking up with a local club or dive shop that does local dives is an excellent way to meet potential buddies and establish a network...

    AOW Dive Expiration

The agency (PADI in this case) sets the standard and the instructor/shop works within that standard. In this case you state PADI has a standard of 8:1 max; a different agency may have 6:1 or even 3:1 standard which the instructor/shop would have to work with. Read Jim Lapenta's post #12 above...
