Are you diving wetsuit or drysuit, is the plate aluminum or s steel. What size and type (al or steel) tank are you using? You need to plan what you get based on what your needs are going to be ........ Not what you happen accross that's cheapest. Is your LDS going to let you try this rig out in...
Crushed neoprene is used for dry and sometimes, semi-dry suits. When it's crushed, or compressed, it looses much of it's thermal capacity, so it's not practical for wetsuit use.
Hope that helped,

Your definition of "overweighted" is incorrect. Overweighted means more weight than needed to maintain neutral bouyancy with essentially empty tanks and no air in your wing at 10', (or alternatively) just below the surface. To say you're overweighted anytime you have to have more than a tiny...
For an out of the box remedy, that you don't have to fool around with trying to stick them on and hope they stay, you might try the SeaVision "gage reader" model. It has small magnifiers in the lower inside portion of each lense.
My arms are a bit too short now myself, and they solved the...
"At the surface, at the beginning of the dive with my BC empty, I exhibit the customary bouyant condition, water half way up the mask. At this point I'm carrying 22 lbs. of weight."
You should be like this *at the end of the dive with an empty tank* .... You should sink easily at the...
There was a good discusion on the tech board (www.thedecostop.com) about the "One size fits all" approach Not fitting all that many very well.
Most bp's are about 15 to 15.5" long (measured top to bottom down the center) Extra long plates are about 17.5". The differences are twofold. 1) The...
I doubt the 16# size would be adequate for you. The standard size, 32#, would be a better choice. The 16 would work well for me here, but alas, they didn't have it when I got my DR gear. How much weight are you putting in your belt, that should give you the answer right there as to the sizing...
In my post that you quote, you'll see I was specifically addressing the questions asked by a previous poster:

Aside from some of the intended humor, when some one gives the thumb, it is a command .... any questions get sorted out later ... The second diver returns the command to confirm that he's on the same page and they begin "properly egressing and ascending" (for the situation they are in) at that...
It really comes down to their preference or custom ..... it's just nice to keep everyone there in the loop, so to speak. Less stress if you know what to be expecting.
It's not that uncommon in vacation dive areas for a hoover hubby in a pair to go to his wife's octo when he gets down to...
They didn't break any rule. The rule was that at 50bar, they stopped using that tank, not end the dive. Jag's issue was that they used air sharing to continue the dive underwater (without breaking the 50 bar rule) when there were no prevailing surface conditions to make that a better...
I have no idea how tall you are, but the one thing to keep in mind is that FredT makes extra long plates for those who are tall or have long backs. If you're over 6', you may want to get one from Fred, shipping be darned.

Getting bent to h*ll and non deco diving are not mutually exclusive. You should have learned that in OW. You get bent when the gradient between the inspired gas pressures and the gas in tissue pressure is too great and it comes out too fast. All it takes is enough on gassing and too rapid an...
I would suggest you not gloss over this point. Cold is a comparatively temporary inconvenience .... you'll warm back up and the ache goes away ............. BENT, on the other hand will really *ruin* your day.
I'd be wanting to understand any DCS issues before I worry exclusively about how...
The only one that comes to mind is if you're lame enough to jump off the boat without turning your air on and inflating your bc ..... but then you couldn't have done your predive checks or buddy check either , could you !
I think the "being able to easily dump weights" thing is just hype to...
I think you've hit on an important point here that we've sort of left out of the discussion to this point. Some folks have received much better training and additional information above and beyond their OW /AOW materials. Some have the advantage of very experienced or tech dive buddies within...
"Its kinda like this: you can drive a Toyota Tercell all you life and think its fine...until that one great day when you get a chance to drive a BMW (or alike) and you say to yourself "Damn i should have done this earlier!"
The point you're missing is that there are a vast percentage of...
