Question camera upgrade. Should I bring the FF that I currently own?

I hear the tg-6 is a pretty good step up from the tg-5 for underwater shooting. Why not go with that. Going mirrorless might be a big upgrade in expense and frustration.

    Purchasing a BP/W

If I remember correctly, the two main pieces of advice are: Set up the shoulder straps so you can touch the top of your plate with your fingertips over your shoulder and/or fit your fist between your chest and the shoulder strap. This will get you in the ballpark and you can make fine...

What makes a Conshelf 30 different?

Although there are some substantial differences between Conshelf firsts, the only easy way to tell the model is the decal on the knob. Unfortunately these knobs are freely interchangeable and there is no certainty that the knob is original. One of my favorite things about the Conshelf's is that...

    Self service regulator

Most IP specs are pretty liberal, for example the spec for a Mk5 is 125-145. If my gauge is off by a few psi one way or the other, I just don't worry about it. In fact, the common 1.5" 300psi full scale IP gauge that many people use only has tick marks every 10 psi making precision readings...

What makes a Conshelf 30 different?

A bigger (smaller) choke point, I think, is air squeezing through the second stage orifice - seat interface.

    Self service regulator

I've been working on my assorted regulators for about 5 years. I use common household chemicals and cleaners and an assortment of miniature brushes. . I use standard household tools with the exception of some o-ring picks and a bullet for piston first stages. A good vise is important. I have...

I wish I had a dollar for every time I heard that. :) I’m sure that whatever Shearwater does it will not be the cluster * that followed the Teric.

What makes a Conshelf 30 different?

I think it's been established that the 1/2" ports were more for marketing than practical benefit. Most people now just buy a 1/2 > 3/8 adaptor to use with a standard LP hose.

    Hollis F2 splitting

The f2 was a pretty direct copy of the APS Mantaray fin. It was reported to be stiffer than the APS. Perhaps the older design had trouble with the added stress of a more rigid material.

    The New Atomic TFX

At these prices it seems Atomic will exhaust their potential customer base quickly. Will Atomic hold out and sell a couple of hundred units a year or switch marketing tactics and go for a larger audience? Will they continue to try to lure the "connoisseur" or lower the cost to attract guys like...

    Perdix AI v Teric v Garmin MK3i - Advice

If you are saying (it's hard to tell what you are saying) that the Perdix is only giving you 6-8 dives on a battery, no matter how you have it set up, there's something broken. I will get at least 60 dives + a year standby on my Perdix before I start to think about the battery. I'd send your...

    Free diving fins

Free diving fins seem like a high gear, high speed kind of thing. For big current/load I'd think a stiffer fin like jet fins for low speed torque. Am I getting carried away with my automotive analogies?
